And where does the $800 million cost come from?
£860 million is a lot, but when they spent £800 million making and marketing the thing to begin with, it's barely made any profit.

I thought the total cost was supposed to be closer to $400m, 250 for the film, 150 for marketing.
Either way, they'll be lucky to make a profit until home did buying and rental, excluding all the merchandise. -

It definitely dragged for the first hour, but for what it's worth I still quite enjoyed it... It's an unfashionable opinion, I know.
Then again I really enjoyed Man of Steel too (apart from the smashy smashy last act) -

Registered 14 years agoI'm pretty sure it will make a profit, but I'm also pretty sure they had far higher expectations. Just about everyone (including Warner, I bet) thought it would at least break one billion dollars easily.
Then again, looking at the early numbers for Civil War, I wonder if that will also end up lower than the previous movies despite all the marketing hype. -

WB will certainly get more like 90% for the first two weeks, and then a lesser percentage (but not by much), depending on what they've forced on the cinema chains. Distributors pretty much hold all the cards when it's a blockbuster that the exhibitors will be desperate for.

China takes a bigger cut as do places like Russia

Registered 14 years agoYeah, it depends on what the nut is, but the reason you have signs up saying things like 'no passes allowed for first week' in places like Showcase cinemas is that they're making so little off some films, it's all concession-driven. -

Registered 16 years agoI saw this yesterday. I didn't think it was all that bad, though I wouldn't say it was great either. The story was messy as heck and I'm not not entirely sure what motivated any of the characters, but visually there were some fantastic shots in there, Batfleck was great, and Wonder Woman was great too. It's just not quite as good as a film with 2 such major character should've been. Justice League set-up felt really forced too and I wasn't sold on their Lex Luthor. That said, I like that they've really went for something very different in many respects.
Generally I'd have to echo b0rk. All over the place but okay was how I felt too. I honestly enjoyed Batman and Robin more, thanks to the abundance of ice puns and generally embracing how ridiculous it was. -

Geoff Jonns now joining Jon Berg to run DC films
Looks as though they've having a bit of a shake up. Looks as though they're trying to do a 'Kevin Feige' although they won't say they are. -
