| Possibly an EE thing as in the last week or so I have noticed a lot more failed attempts at loading EG specifically in areas where it hadn't previously been a problem. |

Registered 13 years agoWell that ends my apple experiment yesterday morning again hardly anything was working so thought fuck it, and went and replaced my iPhone x for a Galaxy s10+
Being back to android is just such a joy. I stuck with the iphone for 15 months because I thought there must be a reason people like them and they sell lots of phones, but fuck me, every single aspect of the iPhone x, from ui to app stability to gps accuracy to phone signal is so far behind other modern phones it is just scary
Side by side testing of loading eg for instance (swapping sims) was instant load on s10, whereas iphone was 30 seconds for time out....
And having a back button again!!! Oh God you can back out of adverts and not wait 30 seconds for a 3 pixel cross to appear randomly somewhere somewhere.
Frankly the iphone x is the worst phone I have ever had and I genuinely gave it a shot, but fuck me I don't get this apple love.
And I have numbers on a keyboard again! Like all nine iPhones have had for years .
Edit: and I can plug in headphones!

That sounds suspiciously cheap, are you sure it is the 10+ as I don't see it anywhere near that price on their website.

Registered 18 years agoMy son has finally thrown my trusty Xperia Z3C to its doom, blackscreening it. I'd been meaning to replace it for a while, but a dearth of genuine compact options (5" or below) was holding me back. I don't want to spend more than £300, so what options do I have - Pixel 2, or XZ1 compact seems to be it? I've been on the 3 £19pm unlimited 4G SIM for years, but is it time to reconsider a contract? -

Registered 18 years agoWeighed it up and gone with Pixel 2 - pristine refurb for just under £240 thanks to the current 20% Ebay offer. At that price, even if I hate it it's an easy sell to get my money back. -

Because OnePlus are no longer such amazingly compelling value and haven't upped their build quality to justify that price hike. Just IMO of course

Anyone got any idea why my iPhone X is so shit? GPS is appalling and regularly when I am on the motorway I get told to do a u turn etc, but I put that down to shitty phone and learned to live with it the last year.
But I am finding lately the internet is getting worse and worse. For example on 4g with good connection EG will time out around 50% of the time. When stuff does load it takes 20 seconds. It also varies by site. BBC loads fine around 85%, EG 50.
Any ideas? It can’t be my specific phone as it happened on my original and the replacement after being stolen. I used to think it was a Vodafone issue, but 6 weeks ago switched to EE and still same problem. Happened around the country, from London to Isle of Man, and case makes no difference so nothing blocking signal.
Sounds all wrong to me. Got the Mrs a used iPhone X from someone at work and she uses Google maps with apple carplay all the time, works just as well as my pixel 2.
Loading webpages etc is not slow at all
I'd suggest you hook it up to a computer and DFU it for a complete clean start. -

Registered 2 years agoWhat do you guys think about Galaxy M30. I read the review article on GSMarena and the video on FB2Mate then I think the Galaxy M30 is great all-rounder and makes a very compelling case for someone who doesn't find 3D gaming or camera performance particularly important. You still get to enjoy a very nice display and the outstanding battery life. There are also no deal-breakers in any other important aspect of the device and it has a reasonable price tag. -

Registered 12 years agoJust got a Moto One Vision. I was going to go for the G7, but it was only $100 more, and the higher spec, superior camera and guaranteed updates swayed me. Haven't fired it up yet, but hopefully it's good.

Registered 18 years agoI'm very happy with my Moto One Vision. The screen could be a bit better. Skin colors look a bit crap on YouTube and being used to the true blacks of AMOLED makes the screen look silly at night when the entire thing lights up just for the clock.
Love the 21:9 format.
Love the karate chop for flashlight and twist for camera.
Love the updates.
Camera is good enough especially after the latest update that allows for 21:9 video spring.
Phone is speedy enough.
Battery is good but not great (1 vs 2 days)
Given the price of it it's a steal. -

That's the phone I bought about a month ago in the amazon prime sale - great phone for the price!
Its similar OS to my wife's Google Pixel 3 but with a slightly elongated screen (which you quickly get used to using).

Registered 12 years agoFinally got it up and running. I like the tall form factor, and it performs nicely. I've only ever had lower mid-tier phones, so the screen is very nice AFAIC. Battery is a bit disappointing, though. Haven't really tested the camera yet, but hopefully it's decent as I need it for for work.
Best thing is the OS though. I fucking hate bloatware, and this has none. I think I only had to disable a few of the Google things I never use an it was ready. It's the clean OS that keeps me coming back to the Moto, and this is the cleanest I've ever had. Wish I could get rid of the silly Google search bar from the home screen though. -

Registered 18 years agoMy Battelle for better after a few days of "new phone must fiddle".
Then it got worse after a few weeks of "Must play Sky ForceReloaed".
But definitely not a patch on the Moto Z Play.
One thing that keeps surprising me with the Moto one vision is how quick it is to start from being completely turned off. -
@thelzdking
You dodged a bullet with the G7 phone, since the G4 (when they become Lenovo) the phone range has become a bit crap
