I think I'm still going to go for the cheapest Nord for 380. Yes the Honor 20 Pro looks good on paper and has a good camera - same goes for the Poco F2 - but I think when it comes down to it the combination of Oxygen OS and a 90hz display will make the most difference day to day.

A snappy no-nonsense UI is crucial, plus it offers loads of actual useful screen-off gestures and customisation options that I'd miss too much moving away from a OnePlus phone.
Fair enough. Enjoy your phone. :) 90hz display does sound like a lot of fun.

90hz isn't a reason to by a phone if just scrolling a few some messages, Having said that, oneplus put some good work into their Android Fork - Nokia are also great - Samsung have the worst software layer, with the slowest update cycle, and if you're buying in the EU a worse SOC than anythingout there.

Having had a Pixel 3a for 18 months or so, not sure I could do anything other than stock now.

I pre-empted that conundrum and have been using the Nova Prime launcher on all of my phones for about 8 years now. The familiar warmth of customisation options I have learned and understood available on each phone does make a big difference.

One of the best things about OnePlus phones is that OxygenOS is so close to stock Android

Tried that, just isn't the same.

Ha. Well, in that case, it looks like it will be Pixel phones for you in the future. That or the Nokia phones that are part of the Android One line-up.

Fingers crossed we will get a Pixel 5 sometime. And I think that Pixel 4a is getting announced on monday. (If you are in the market for a new phone)

Has there been any more word from Microsoft about its foldable Suface phone yet?

I've been a iPhone user for about ten years now, and while I'd absolutely love an iPhone 11 Pro, I will not pay 65+ a month for a something I only really use to browse Facebook markeyplace and to organise games of Warzone.

I do like the look of the Surface, though, and could be tempted to jump ship for one of those. I miss the days when every year you'd get a new phone in a new form-factor and with a new OS to learn.

Still on an iPhone 8 which is a lot better now I've replaced the battery, but the internal speaker seems to be going and I end up putting most calls on speakerphone now as I can hardly hear the person on the other end.

You tried cleaning it? I had that on a Samsung and it was full of pocket lint.

Edit: Wait, no, that was the mic. Same diff, I suppose.

Theres not really anything to get into to clean. Im sure you can buy replacement speakers, though I always get a little nervous doing repairs on the last few generations of iPhone as the internals are so delicate and fragile.

The surface duo is apparently due for release on the 23rd of August.

Leaked specs indicate a last year flagship without wireless charging which I don't really give a shit about as long as it works.

There are however rumours it doesn't have nfc which is a deal breaker for me. I have grown used to not carrying my wallet.

There was an fcc certification that included a line for nfc but stated "N/A exempt from certification". Hopefully that means it's there but I wouldn't put it past MS for making a stupid mistake like dropping it to save 4.

Sounds like the Pixel 4a Will be $350. If up to date, stock Android is of importance, then that sounds like a no-brainer.

Yeah I was thinking of going for the iPhone SE (seemed a logical upgrade to my current OG SE) but I can see me going back to Android for the Pixel 4a.

I'd go for a Pixel mainly for the camera. Oled screen too, not high refresh but hey.

The Pixel 4a is apparently being released today, making the decision to buy a OnePlus Nord tomorrow more difficult.

The Pixel 4a unfortunately lacks 5G (a frustrating omission) until an updated version is released later in the year... but unfortunately I can't keep waiting and waiting before buying a new phone because my battery is screwed.

I can't see this. Has the offer expired?

Edit - To answer my own question, the JL deal for 350 has expired, according to HUKD. Seems I could have also got it for 350 as an Amazon Prime member at some point (I did check Amazon last week, never saw it) but this deal has also expired.

How annoying, considering the phone isn't even released yet. I didn't think retailers would be doing offers on a product weeks before release - with very few product details available - and now I feel like I'm being ripped off paying RRP. I hate pre-order culture sometimes.

Oh well, might as well wait to see what the Pixel 4a has to offer.

Looking forward to the Pixel 4A vs Oneplus Nord comparison videos

Been changing my mind all over the place but my latest thinking is that I'll get an imported Samsung S20 5G from Hong Kong (with the better processor/performance/battery life).

I ended up sending a UK S20+ back for a refund because the battery life was so poor if you turned 120Hz on. A key selling point of the phone makes it pretty much unusable unless you want to walk around everywhere with a powerbank in your pocket. It was still pretty dire even on the default settings.

Love my snapdragon S10+ in comparison and I'll be sticking to imports if my next phone ends up being another Samsung (decided I jumped the gun a bit with the above purchase, as there's nothing wrong with the S10+ apart from a lack of 5G)

Pixel 4a not available until October then. Meh. Looking into it a bit more, I'm not sure why it's so much of a better choice than the OnePlus Nord.

Disappointing that they've not addressed the battery life. A few improvements over the 3a, but not sure it's enough for me to upgrade.

Nord seems a better deal to me, unless you are mainly about photos, also the dollars to pounds on the 4a sucks, even with VAT this should be a 300 phone.

I have an Oppo and it has a terrific battery, the screen is clear and bright and the camera is pretty ace. It has dual SIM so I can cheat on my other half and not let my side piece know, as well as having NFC and shit, and isn't loaded with bloatware.

Wasn't as expensive as even the 4a. I really don't know why anyone buys expensive phones nowadays

    Which Oppo is that?

There always seems to be something stopping me from getting each phone...

I'd almost get the Oneplus 8 Pro except I don't like the idea of a curved screen. Or the Pixel 4 apart from the crappy battery life. Maybe Nord is the one after all, but the shitty extra cameras put me off - I'd rather they weren't there at all.

Probably a real dumb question but there's no way to get facetime on android right?

Solid Android with updates isn't it? That's why I'd be getting one if I could, but it seems like Sweden will be left out again.
