Partners iPhone contract with orange has just ended and I've moved her over to 3 and a z3c.

I really like the phone and she's coming around after some adjustment with the keyboard, so used to the iPhone keyboard.

The issue she has with it is that it's loudspeaker doesn't seem very loud when on a call and that the notifications don't come through very loud. Anybody else have this issue?
I have a Z3 compact and an iPhone 6. The Z3 is far quieter and has significantly degraded sound quality in comparison which I think is probably due to the waterproofing. It's not terrible, but not great.

My missus has the Z3, it is indeed lovely, she also has the copper version.
    Isn't it a bit big?

It's a little big for me (the Lumia 925 is pretty much perfect size-wise) but her last phone was a Galaxy somethingortheother which was bigger. There is a mini version of the Z3 which sounds quite cool.

I think I'm leaning towards the M9 when it comes out, if I can get a WP version then it is sealed.

Had a play with the M8 Eye today (I think it has only been released in Asia). Really liked it and was very close to buying it but thought I would wait for the M9 release date and specs to be announced.

Also interested in the Motorola Droid Turbo and the LG G3, can't find either in the shops though and reluctant to buy without seeing it first.

A bit of a random question, but what phone cases does everyone have? Do you go for the pouch, the flipcase or the shell-and-screen-protector combo? I've usually used the latter, but I might get one of the pouch things.

    I don't bother with one. It's a basic Experia Z.

I'd thought of getting a wee sock-like thing in which to keep it.

Never felt much need for a screen protector, phones screens are pretty strong these days so scratches don't really happen unless you keep it in the same pocket as your keys and a screen protector isn't likely to stop it smashing.

So I normally have a shell with no screen protector, or even just a skin. I don't like to obscure it or add bulk any more than necessary.

I don't bother with a screen protector myself but then my phone always goes in my pocket with nothing else in it but the phone.

I do have a transparent gel case as frankly my M8 is pretty slippy.

    But then everyone's different.

For my Lumia 925 I have the wireless charging back plate, no screen protector. I also carry a clip on battery pack in my bag which is really useful and not too bulky.

Grabbed an Xperia Z3 today (replacing my much loved HTC One)  - very impressed so far - looks awesome and the screen is lovely.

While I've never used a case before, I'm thinking that I should get one.  Anyone got any suggestions?

I know the Note 5 is out in September, I'm sure the price will be eye watering so decided to kop off with a Note 4 as managed a free handset on a £30 per month contract with unlimited texts/calls and 2gb of data.

So what do you chaps who have a Note 4 think now it's been out a while?

    Xperia Z3 .

    Best phone i've ever owned.
    That is all.

    Battery life is excellent.

Which piggyback soon-to-be-bust network are offering that for £30?
  • Deleted user 27 April 2015 17:43:06
@graysonavich Vodafone, via mobilephonesdirect and their spring sale tab.

Insane price. Pretty much half of what the cost is via Vodafone direct.

As mentioned above the Z3 in copper is a gorgeous phone.

If I lost my 930 that would be the replacement.
  • Deleted user 27 April 2015 19:29:13
    @graysonavich Well it's a 2 year contract so works out at £720.
  • Deleted user 29 April 2015 01:12:26
Been toying with the Note 4 today and it makes my HTC one look positively tiny. Very impressed with it so far, the camera is a big upgrade.

Need my case to arrive before changing over to it full time though.

Definitely seems like a bargain contract.

Handset free and 30 per month over 24 months is £720

£720 minus the cost of the phone new, about £550 is £170

£170 divided by 24 is £7.08, so my contract per month for two years is effectively 7 quid a month.

Unless my maths sucks, and it might, I'm pretty pleased with that.
