Not this again! Bertie isn't a TT specialist though, and Froome sort of is. Where would Martin or Cancellara or Dowsett etc have come in do you think? His winning time was 13 minutes, so he was actually going less than 1 second faster per minute of riding. Hardly a spectacular demonstration of the power of EPO. Drunken posting on my part. I'll leave it alone.

Registered 17 years agoLay of poor little Froome. He's atmastic, you know!
Dunno if the whole "inhaler riot" was mentioned in your media. He pulled out an inahler for a few puffs, shortly before going head to head with Contador.
There were lots of comments on twitter and his personal pitbull/girlfriend had a bit of a go at his detractors. -

Registered 15 years agoI thought pretty much all pro cyclists had a prescription for an asthma inhaler - Bertie probably does seeing as he's no stranger to Clenbuterol.
I don't think it's been mentioned in our press, because it's basically a non issue.

I'm not sure how true it is but I read somewhere that 25% of the peloton are asthmatic. I hadn't heard that Froome was though. Still, it'd be fucking ludicrous to do anything like this in broad daylight, so I doubt there's much in it. Mental race yesterday, looks like Contador is back to "top form". New records set at the Tour?
I thought pretty much all pro cyclists had a prescription for an asthma inhaler - Bertie certainly does, seeing as the Clenbuterol test was blamed on an asthma treatment.

Registered 15 years agoI'd have thought it was more than 25%.
Exercise induced asthma is a fairly genuine condition, and fairly well monitored as far as I can tell. Petacchi missed the 2007 Tour because he used his inhaler too much, at least.

Registered 17 years agoNot sure to be honest. Even if it is true though, I've never seen a rider dip into his back pocket, take out his inhaler for a few puffs mid race.
The only coverage it was here was "Chris Froome causes a small twitter riot by using his inhalor mid race." They didn't go into any more detail besides a mention that it's quite unseen for someone to use it during the race. -

I've never seen it either but I missed out on a lot of cycling during the Armstrong years.

Registered 15 years agoAh Paula, they are out to get you. Who could possibly believe that you of all people could be using bloodbags and/or PEDs? You, who held an "EPO Cheats Out!" banner once and always "campaigned" against drug use in athletics! Not possible, surely! Only a complete sociopath would carry on like you did whilst at the same time using re-injected blood (and/or whatever) to hit ludicrous world records.
Not possible, surely! Not Paula, no way. -

Registered 16 years agoI think it's rather harsh for her to be name dropped without any evidence, quite the smear. It's not like an MP even knows much about what constitutes irregular blood samples, and simply made the statement based on his suspicions.
But who knows. For one, I know who Seb Coe's supplier was, but he will almost certainly be ever mentioned in the mix (the supplier is also a common wealth gold medallist). -
