Registered 12 years agoCan't they just remake Brian Lara 99 in HD and be done with it? Those look shocking. -

Registered 12 years agoNo. That wouldn't be awesome. Lara games were fatally flawed. When you bat in cricket, you don't know where the ball is going to pitch before you hit it. Until cricket games move away from the wobbly circle to bowl they will be forever fecked.
Super International Cricket did a good job years back, and Stick cricket gets it too. -

Registered 12 years agoAlso a cricket game where bowling was fun would help. You need to be able to bowl fast. Past games have always been so pedestrian on the quicks front. Mind you...it doesn't matter how quick you bowl if there's a whacking great red cursor showing the batsman where it's pitching... -

Indeed, I don't mind it letting you know very late, but I used to just move across the crease and hit everything through the covers because I had so much time to see the line of the ball.

I played Ashes 2010 and it was fundamentally the same game as Cricket 2002 (which I used to love, to be fair) -

Registered 13 years agoCouldn't find the actual thread for it (is there one?), but the actual ashes 2013 game (not the one this thread is about) has been delayed until November now. -

Every cricket game I've ever played feels pretty much the same gameplay as the Gooch one I played way back on the Atari ST. There's been so little evolution in 20 plus years.

Those bowling markers need to go. -

Registered 10 years agoObviously no one played International Cricket 2010 as you could actually turn the bowling markers off...
It was a semi-serviceable cricket game in a market that has been filled with under developed shite. Thanks EA.
Either way, Ashes 13 is basically a complete write-off at the moment, but the Big Ant guys do seem to have an idea as to what they are doing, and have at least made an effort to include a career mode of some kind. Hoping it'll be at least average, which will make it the best cricket game since 1999 -

Registered 12 years agoYes, you could turn the bowling markers off in lots of these games but the game (2010) didn't work properly without it as the batsman does not adapt to play a cross bat shot for example, they just wafted at thin air.
The game was still built around the fundamentally busted wobbly bowling cursor mechanic that is about 20 years old and has always been cack.
The bowling also had no pace or fire in 2010.
You need to be able to be surprised by a quick delivery. -
So Don Bradman Cricket is out for PS4 & XONE on the 13th but I've only seen it for pre-order on Amazon and it's £56, anyone seen it cheaper?
