Left 4 Dead is a good one. Played it a few times and was bored to tears after ten minutes.

Registered 9 years agoSee I played both games to death, loved the first and played hundreds of hours af Versus. The sequel was a bit of a mess though in hindsight. -

Registered 8 years agoIs really do not think Journey should be in this thread.
Look at this screenshot and tell me this isn't a beautifully moving moment in the game, for those who have played it.
Journey is, in many respects, a near-perfect game.
... utilising all of the medium’s strengths and relying on none of its weaknesses to enthrall players and tell its brief but emotionally moving story. Even its brevity works in its favour, as it becomes an experience you can and should have in just one sitting.
The storytelling is purely about the game experience itself. -
Never crossed my radar tbh. You make it sound a bit emo and pretentious -

Registered 9 years agoYeah, many had serious problems with lag on the 360 too, which they really shouldn't have. Spoiled it a lot for plenty of folk I played with. -
Thirty Flights Of Loving
I do like indie experience gaming, I just did not gel with this at all. -

Registered 7 years agoLA Noire would certainly be number one in my list of disappointing games. Not sure it's overrated though, I think most people realise it was poor. -

Registered 11 years agoI'll add my votes to The Last Of Us. Its a fantastic game but I'm so fed up of seeing comments that state that no game will feel the same after The Last of Us. I really enjoyed the game but people saying that its the game of the generation or that you need to buy a ps3 just to play it really grinds my gears.
Also Skyrim. Another game I really enjoyed but eeesh its as deep as a puddle and its almost RPG-lite. Hopefully the series doesn't do a Final Fantasy on us
Also Mass Effect 3. You had the cheek to kill my Sheppard ....Lola Sheppard a woman I spent 90 hours with....gone. I could just about handle that but to dump me back into the game after the end credits and say "Hey we're going to release story DLC at some point so now you can enjoy it although it still means that your Shep is still dead...ta ta" Fuck you EA fuck you.
Also Battlefield 3. This game just didn't click with me. Really loved Bad Company 2, probably one of the best MP games of this gen, but BF3 just didn't grab me.
GTA IV. Just a bland game with annoying characters verging on racial stereotypes. A dead city with little to do in it and all the joy of the previous games have been sucked out its cold dead ass. I'm looking forward to GTA V as it looks fun but I think the GTA formula really suited the western theme of Red Dead Redemption more than a "gritty" New York. -

Good call. Somehow it was a massive step back from the awesome Battlefield 1943 which was just a taster.

Journey for sure.
I disagree with all style, little substance.
I think it's better classified as little style, little substance. An overrated piece of arthouse wank. -

It used to be fun, now it is all realistic and simulation and stuff. I don't want simulation, I want something that is fun, accessable and possible to score from outside the box in. -
Yep, I agree. -

It's not art as some like to claim but it's not really overrated. -

The entire assassins creed series
A number of games mentioned haven't really been overrated at all - Alan Wake got decent reviews but has been slated lots of times. Halo 4, Gears etc definitely got great reviews, but the response to them, on here, and elsewhere, has hardly been overwhelmingly positive.
But AC series? Man what a boring wankathon they are.
(I realise my first point could be made about AC, but fuck it. It's just so boring)

Oh yeah. Mario Galaxy. Just completed it, not as good as 64 or Sunshine.
Good game, but the planets are shit. Like that Toy one. Crap. Hope the second is better and bigger.
