Surprised there's no thread for this yet.

So what do people think based on the launch trailer and the FAQ?

Reading between the lines, it sounds like you might be able to wander round Albion on your own, but whenever you take on a quest, you pick three heroes (AI or human) to accompany you. Or you can be the villain. This would make it a bit more like the first Fable game, where the quests were sort of segregated from the "open world" aspects, if I remember rightly.

Villain mode is played via RTS which sounds interesting.

Sounds to me like there are always at least 3 companions with you - quest or no.

Can't really tell much from the trailer - and the FAQ makes me have more questions than answers. It's Fable, though, and imo that's presumably a good thing!

... after Fable III and Fable: The Journey (the Kinect game), I feel indifferent about Fable as a series at present, especially with Peter gone whether you liked him or not.

Fable II was a real highlight!

A shame it has all gone downhill since.

I've never been particularly interested in Fable, but I quite like the sound of doing a bit of questing with a few pals. Or being an evil bastard of a dungeon master and ruining their day.

I can't disagree, although I thought Fable III was a pretty good game, albeit a significant step down from II. Fable II was hard to live up to, though.

I don't have Kinect so never played Journey. I'm sure it wasn't very good, but I don't even consider it really a Fable game as much as it was some kind of Kinect experiment.

I loved Fable 1, and adored Fable 2. There is just something not quite right about Fable 3 though, something hard to define. A few hours in and I couldn't be bothered anymore. Not a good sign when a previously big fan of the franchise feels emotionless towards it.

It's still on the HDD though. I can't bring myself to delete it.

I liked Fable 3. The world was my favourite Fable world.

I really enjoyed Fable III, but felt it suffered in comparrisson to the (IMO) absolutely magnificent Fable II. It seemed a little bit rushed, some of the concepts not quite polished enough - dialogue and interactions were much worse, for instance. And the endgame didn't work as well as Lionhead intended.

All that aside, it's still a great, big, fun game, with some attractive steampunk trappings, but not as marvellous as FII for me.

Would give Fable II's world the nod but all suffer from too much loading screens.

I really, really like the first two, more so the second one however, there was so much wrong and backwards with Fable III that it kind of surprises me when I see/hear/read about folks liking it.

... I still ploughed on to finish the story, but gosh! I was so thoroughly disappointed.

Seems like my story is a common one. I loved the first two games and have absolutely no desire to even look at 3 or Journey.

I no longer have a 360 and do not own a current gaming PC. My plan is to buy a PS4 at around the middle of next year and then maybe start to build a gaming PC for the predicted console-free future.

I would imagine, therefore, that I will not be playing F4.

    DAMN, 1 & 2 were good :(
