1,471 pages condensed into a 2 hour movie?

Fuck off. The miniseries was 7 hours long and it STILL left out over half the characters and events of the book.

@ChronoTravis The one problem with the TV series: Randall Flagg being played as a "good ole boy".

The actor they got for him was pretty much perfect, looks wise, but what they needed to do was keep his face in deep shadow as much as possible and have him played in a menacing way; when he made you an offer, you didn't just accept because it was the best thing you could have happen to you, but because you knew it would be bad for you if you didn't.

What you got was a guy in denim being all chatty, if you started to turn against him he then started turning mean, but what you really needed was it to be obvious that you had to be stupid (or incredibly brave) to say no.
I agree that Flagg was played as a bit too much of a jokester in the mini-series. In the book, he was a lot stranger and creepier; more menacing. Whoever said Matthew Mcconaughey may be on to something. I think he may have the right look for the character, but I hope they play him closer to the book depiction, in the new movie(s).

I'd like to see the epilogue in any film they do. The miniseries omitted that.

The Stand is too big for a movie. I'd rather someone made a good film of Weaveworld.

It would make a good TV show... unless they get the Under The Dome lot to do it.

Give it to the GoT lot though, and I think it could end up being the next big thing.

I was so excited to watch the tv series but it bored me to tears. I'd just leave the movie and accept its a great book.

Good lord. That would be even harder to make into a film.

They have to go far to beat the miniseries. They better have blue oyster cult over the opening titles or I'm out.

    3 hours, R-rated.

So I’m a big Stephen King fan, and I know you’re a gigantic Stephen King fan, so I have to ask about The Stand. You’re directing it. What can you tell me about it?
We’re gonna do one three-hour, R-rated version with an amazing A-list cast across the board. Every single one of those characters will be somebody you recognize and somebody you relate to. And it’s gonna be awesome. I’m really excited. It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever got to do in my entire life. If 12-year-old me had ever known that one day I’d be doing this, to even just go back and look at that kid, I’d be like, Keep doing what you’re doing! It’s just crazy. I’ve met so many actors over the years, and like, when I met Stephen King, I hugged him with tears in my eyes. He meant that much to me when I was young. I still say everything I learned about writing I learned from Stephen King. I don’t read screenplays. I don’t read screenplay how-to books. It’s always just, establish the character. Establish the character.
