Sometimes the rest of us are just looking at each other wide eyed with bewilderment over some of his calls. I think he's oblivious to it as well, I think all loud speakers are.
Every office I've worked in, someone would have gone up to him and said something along the lines of, "Can you keep the noise down, I'm trying to concentrate. Thank you".
And/or suggested he books a meeting room for calls.
Of course it's been said to him a number of times, even by management, we're not children you know!

But you could tell him 100s of times and he would think he's already altered accordingly - he just isn't aware that he's loud. He looks quite hurt when someone says about it again, he really is oblivious. He's actually a really nice guy too.

My main point was that I don't really think a lot of loud talkers are actually aware that they're doing it. Thanks for the obvious advice though! ;)

I had a friend who was basically deaf in one ear. It made him much louder than he probably would have been otherwise.

My dad's neighbor is a loud talker. But it's weird as she's also quite low energy, with a droning, monotonous voice.

When she has guests you can hear through the walls, her droning on punctuated by silence when the normal people talk.

There's a guy at work who audibly sighs and grunts while working, as if it takes physical effort, even though we work in an office doing a desk job.

    It's driving me barmy.

I know it's not great pizza but I do enjoy a dominos. But I can't fathom how they justify charging 18 quid for a large cheese and tomato.

I don't get it either. Pizza Hut makes those "classic pizzas" which are Italian style pizzas rather than their usual American pan pizza stuff. I mean, nobody expects quality and it tastes the same as some cheap frozen pizza, but how the hell do they charge Ä8 for a crappy simple Margherita when you get one from any random pizzeria that's ten times better and costs half that?

Dominos over price everything to make dumb people think they're buying a premium product. They then use "special offers" to make said dumb people think they're getting the premium product at a low low price.

It's fucking infuriating. It takes half an hour to order a pizza now thanks to having to compare a hundred deals against each other and then, when you finally get your shit together, someone always suggests checking the internet for a code.

We know a pizza isn't worth 18 quid. Peg it at tenner and fuck off with your midweek bonanza deals.

Heh that reminds me of selling Uvex motorcycle helmets. They'd overinflate the SRP by 100-200% and then instantly make a 50-70% "sale" on that. They're not around anymore, perhaps deservingly so

That is pretty much standard practice for chain stores in this country. DfS have had a permanent sale that ends this weekend for my entire life.

I guess they have a rota of stores with no sale on for whatever the minimum period is, so that they can claim the regular price is in fact a sale price.

Carpet Right used to have a store that exclusively sold their highly inflated products for the purpose of marking it down throughout the rest of their chain.

I work a bit of retail and the business I work for doesn't bother with the sale nonsense but so many people seem to believe in sales as a real thing that aren't just a load of marketing bullshit.

There are a few industries that have genuine sales but most are a nonsense.

I guess it's thanks to people like my dad who think they're super smart if they only buy heavily discounted stuff (and later complain about the crap they bought)
