What is it? Brilliant rogue-like indie game which has made it's transition from X360 and PC to Sony's hardware Brilliant huh? EG Review USGamer Vita Review Sounds great. Where can I get it? PS3 version here Vita version here Currently £11.99 (with a 20% discount for PS+ subscribers). Better still it's cross-buy, meaning that you get both versions. There's a demo too |

Bought Spelunky from the Australian PS Store and have been giving it a good going over. Things I've noticed:
- The graphics look great on the Vita
- It controls how you expect
- There are times the game slows down, sometimes when a ghost appears, ans others when a blizzard strikes.
- Completely powering down the Vita seemed to help with the slowdown instances, but I could be imagining things.
Overall, a very decent port.
How bad is this slowdown? Just minor or bad enough to throw you off your game?

Registered 17 years ago@Roddy100 - not played for long, but no slowdown for me. Not that I seen to be sensitive to these things... -
@Roddy100 barely any. It seems to be when the ghost appears. No game breaker. -

Registered 18 years agoPlayed it a tonne, seen no slowdown yet. I've had the ghost but its always been off screen and I've not noticed slowdown.
Only slightly odd thing is a few times when I've died, I've had to wait a little while for the option to quick start appears again. Sometimes it says "saving" for longer than seems natural given what it's actually saving. Stats I presume.

Thanks Flying Pig, OMG and Yegon. That's good to know! I'm glad there are no major frame drops.

Yegon, perhaps when it's taking a while it's syncing your stats. I read that the game automatically cross-saves with the ps3 version (if you have the PS3 version that is.) -

Registered 16 years agoHas anyone tried playing a LAN game between Vita and PS3? I get a trmendous anount of lag. This would otherwise be the best way to play 2 players as you don't have to be on the same screen. -

Registered 20 years ago@Roddy100 Since the slowdown happens infrequently, it isn't that bad. I do recall the snow effects and a ghost causing my timing to be a little off, but hopefully the devs responsible for the Vita port can iron out any issues in the near future. -

Registered 18 years agoIt's a shame there isn't a daily challenge mode for the PSN version, but I'm grateful enough for the port as it is.
I got to the jungle 2-1 last night, whipped a red/orange coloured frog and I just stood there wondering why it wasn't doing anything. The colour should have warned me off: it exploded in my face.
The giant spiders give me the hibee jibees.

Like I say though, doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't bother me. Already beaten my performance on the 360 version. By reaching 2-4

Registered 17 years agoPlayed again this morning - got to 2-1, which I thought waspretty poor until I read some of the above comments .gif)
I still don't really 'get it' yet, but now I understand that this isn't simply a case of collecting/killing everything, or a speed run through each level, but a play-off between exploration, risk and reward, I am enjoying it more.
I'll keep plugging away, but at the moment cannot see me ever getting the Finish the game in under 8 minutes trophy! -

Registered 16 years agoHow many of the initial cave levels are there before you get to the jungle? Got to about 1-4 or 1-5 and was hoping to see something different.
Absolutely loving this on Vita, seems a perfect match. -

I haven't seen that happening yet. I would guess that there's always an unobstucted path to the exit.

At the moment I'm wondering whether it is worth treasure hunting instead of just trying to get to the exit asap. -

From past experience, I would say it will take about 2 weeks to sort out. Sony will sort it out but they do take their time. Sine Mora was the last release I can remember them having the same problem with. Think it was Murbal who had problems so he may be able to shed more light. -

To me, it feels like an overpriced 90's platformer. -
So I made it to the jungle and right before some guy asks for bombs. Assuming he would build a shortcut. But I died and there is no shortcut?
