I liked this bit: Jones, who lives next door to Quentin Tarantino on Mulholland Drive, said.. cont. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/jones-sticks-boot-england-000342865.html#aVhevmw Hardman actor Vinnie Jones has branded England "past its sell-by date" and said that it has opened its doors to too many immigrants. The Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels star, 48, lives in Los Angeles and said that he could never be tempted back. "There's nothing to come back to here. To me, England is past its sell-by date," he told the Radio Times. |

Registered 11 years agoI'm surprised he lives in Los Angeles, what with all the filthy immigrants there too:
Los Angeles is home to people from more than 140 countries speaking 224 different identified languages.[113] Ethnic enclaves like Chinatown, Historic Filipinotown, Koreatown, Little Armenia, Little Ethiopia, Tehrangeles, Little Tokyo, and Thai Town provide examples of the polyglot character of Los Angeles.

His English hardman schtick might be an amusing novelty at the golf club but I doubt it has much of a shelf life.
Good luck paying the mortgage in ten years on that "acting" career. -

Registered 10 years agoWait...so Jones doesn't like immigration policies that allowed him to move and live in a different country? -
His point is undermined by his circumstances in a couple of ways:
1) He lives on the other side of the world, and so doesn't live in this failed England he's bleating about.
2) He's an immigrant, complaining about immigrants. Hypocrisy is, actually, a problem when making an argument with any real moral conviction, which is what he's clumsily lunging at.
3) Have I killed all possibility of humour et al? My work is done.

Registered 13 years agoMoreissey did exactly the same a few years ago. Not only was he an immigrant to another country at the time, but his parents were Irish immigrants to the UK.
Immigration is one of those issues that people have a massive moral blind spot on. -

1) But that's WHY he left. He went down the road less travelled and made incomprehensible sacrifices to escape a collapsing England.

3) You can kill alot of things Sparrow, but Vinnie's courage won't be one of them! -

He's right about Heathrow, though. Bloody airports, being built all over the world and looking similar. -
In theory if you have dual nationality and a home in both nations, you could emigrate to one without actually being an immigrant, right? You're still emigrating from one and immigrating to another. But are you an immigrant in both, or neither? No need to reply of course, I'm clearly gibbering. Just a thought. And now I can't read immigrant without hearing Mo from Simpsons blaming it on "immigants".
