Would people actually be tempted to pre-order based on a free game?
It's been fairly standard practice to give out 2 or 3 latest release titles then you buy a new GPU for a while now, I had no idea it would be such a circus around it on a £480 console release! -

Registered 15 years ago@graysonavich my view is: by March I'll have bought one and probably paid £430. If they're offering me a game I'd like to buy anyway, for free, then by preordering I'd have saved £40.
Now I don't really think I'll buy Forza, although I would like it. So the Forza bundle is tempting me in a way the Fifa bundle never could.
But like I say: I'd rather have Lego Marvel. -

Registered 16 years agoI am tempted... Forza is always great and can soak up hours upon hours! The more I see of dead rising, the more it look like ridiculous fun so would definitely be interested in that as a bundle... To be honest, I'll probably just wait until Titanfall! -

I'm hoping that the Forza bundle isn't just a preorder incentive. I would love to save £40 but I'm loathe to preorder a console that is really still an unknown quantity. -

I'm just going to get Forza separately and hope I can sell the FIFA code. I couldn't be arsed messing around with pre-orders any more in the end.
And now I know why I've never bought a console at launch before! -

Is it really an unknown quantity? It's inevitable that both PS4 and xb1 will get an absolute stack of good games *eventually*. It's whether you're wise enough to maybe wait 6 months or more when, at the very least, you'll be able to pick up the launch titles cheaper and there may be a clearer picture on future exclusives.

Have had the foresight to order a quality hdmi splitter though. In conjunction with my 3xhdmi amp, I'll be keeping all my old stuff hooked up too. Thanks to a rather splendid cabinet I bought last year, it'll all be discretely tucked away avoiding the place looking, nor smelling, like a GameStation.

All I want is the Forza 5 Day One edition. With a physical copy of NBA 2K14 I'll then be sorted for launch, I have no intention of spending 600 quid. -
Ive emailed game to see if I can swap my fifa bundle for the forza one but im not too bothered if I cant as im happy to have fifa but given the option would take forza as the free download. -
It's a shame they are only offering yearly update games like fifa and forza and not something that will never be touched again in a year. -

Until the console is in the hands of the consumer then I think it is an unknown quantity. Same goes for the PS4.
The best you can hope for when buying at launch is hardware reviews from reputed sources. However no one can tell you what a console is like to live with long term. Hence Red Ring, YLOD. -

That's true. I was thinking purely along the lines of is this a dead duck, will it get zero decent software, which obviously won't be the case for either.
Yellow/red ring of death equivalent though, eep, you never know. The late increase in CPU and gpu clockspeed of the xb1 is potentially troubling.

It's not an overclock. Both ps4 and Xbox one are underclocking the CPU from 2ghz. I doubt this speed increase will cause much of a temp rise.

Registered 8 years agoI never managed to swap my Shopto order - I have the Fifa download + Forza disc + Live bundle. All the Forza bundles wanted me to buy an extra pad - which I just don't need (even less than I need Kinect). So I stayed with my original order rather than switch to Amazon. On the plus side, I can boot up Forza immediately rather than waiting for it to download over Live which surely will be hammered on Launch day. I'd have loved the on the HDD convenience though as I can see it being played more than Fifa by a very large margin.

Registered 12 years agoBased on the top sellers lists on various sites I find it very hard to believe that the PS4 is ahead on preorders by the huge margins quoted in the media. -
Depends what time period the preorder lists are over and how many they have to sell to top a list. FIFA and Forza have definitely had an effect recently but most PS4 preorders were probably done some time back.
