    How much is it to get a new door fitted? Need to replace my back door for a uPVC one. Looks like they're around 300 or so for the door, so say maybe 500 fitted? That sound about right?
    Get your backdoor stoved in already at the new place, eh Quaddy?

    ;-)

    @quadfather That does sound about right from what I can recall mine were. Can vary depending on the type you get (amount of glass, locks etc).

    Houses are expensive!

    Yup 500 is a decent price. Some companies will try to charge extortionate amounts but they are likely looking for you to negotiate.

    If it's a wooden door and frame in an old house, I'd replace like with like. I hate the UPVC front door we have. Very out of keeping and character.

    Cheers guys.

    Just rang the guy that did my previous house years ago and he's also said 500 for a basic white one. 575 for one with reinforced panels and a stronger lock. So I was about right.

    Haha, no, current door is intact - it's just an old wooden one that lets some cold in so I want a decent one for insulation ready for winter.

    The rest of the house has white uPVC so it'll fit in, plus they're convenient.

    I'll get a fancy elaborate door later on when I win the lottery.

    Heavy curtain I'm place in the lair now. Looks great. Goes well with the teal floor too.

    Fucking 66 for a matching blind though. Ffs. It's only a bastard blind. Annoyed.

    It's great wandering around your own house and doing bits and bobs though. WITH NO ONE ELSE SAYING "NO THAT WONT GO LETS GET THIS REALLY NICE THING HERE THAT YOU WILL HATE"

    Free reign!

    @quadfather

    That sounds great.

    Was talking to the Mrs about our potential garage conversion. Won't be for a few years, but I said it'll be great as I can put a desk in there and use it as a home office when I need to. Her response was, simply, no. Which ended in an argument of course :)

    Just to make you all jealous. When we were first looking around our new house, "this could be your game room" were words that my wife said

    So I had two viewings on my house today, two more tomorrow, another next week. I also viewed a property....eurgh other peoples houses and to a lesser extent eurgh other people.

    I hate being judgmental.

    Tch', my only problem was which rooms to choose as game rooms ;)

    Turns out I have a cave downstairs and an ensuite attic games room. Living the dream :)

    Wife decided that the way we'd set up the house wasn't quite right. So we had a look and I ended up swapping four rooms around. Now my wife has a study, the kids have a play room and we've all got an exercise / music room. I've also got a hernia ;)

    Worked bloody hard, but think the house looks more homely now and flows better. How we've managed to do that without a single neon sign I don't know..

    My eyes are fully open! No chain on either side, cash buyers, sister is working my case. I'm hoping for minimal pain!

    It'll still take 3 months! (although having your sister do your conveyancing may take away most of the pain!)

    Good luck dude. Be easier once it's all done!

    We had no chain either side as well, took four months. You never know what bollocks is coming your way.

    Our was "there's a mine under the house, wait no there isn't" and "we've got a problem with there being no private parking, wait no we don't".

    That was two months of fannying around right there

    Well done, Pon! That is the easy part to be fair!

    Extension is all but done now. All the cupboards are made up ready to be fitted, painting is nearly all done (electrician knocked an extra hole in the ceiling for a light that wasn't going there and a hole in the middle of a wall for an electrical port that I'm not going use- waiting for the plaster to dry on both). Carpet in my room is in so I can start moving my desk and PC. Oh and the plumber forgot to connect the pipe for the outside tap to anything. As you do. Will get pictures when it's all done.

    @mrpon

    Can I interest you in neon lights?
