    The previous owners fitted an outside lamp inside as well as outside the extension. Looks a bit daft, but I don't mind it.

    @robthehermit

    Inside as well as out? Odd.

    Quite tempted for a full height one but it's a bit over the top. It would look decent though - the unadopted road is very quiet and it has a similar light just across the way.

    Just need to work a way of powering it

    I'd go with electricity mate, but then I'm a traditionalist :)

    Well the bulk of my room is done now, just a few little bits to finish. Bit gutted about the LED strips, got 5 meters going round and under the desk, plan was to have 2 different colours, like a neon Blue and Pink, or a sunset orange and red. But they kept freaking out whenever I'd press the remote for one or the other, so I've had to settle for one colour instead. Again, pictures make it look like quite a pokey room, but it's quite the opposite being in there. Well happy with it.

    Looks great kid! Google Perfect Fit blinds if you're after some retro fit blinds in those windows. They snap onto existing UPVC frames.

    Ah yes, we've got some blinds coming this weekend, thanks though. Should help it look more like a room.

    Looks great but makes me sad.

    Sigh. What could have been. When we bought our place, I earmarked a room for my study/man cave. It's now full of Sylvanian Family and stomp rockets and other kiddy shite. I was going to put up a projector, have my consoles, dual monitor PC - all these plans shot to hell :(. I will live vicariously through you for now. One day, though. One day.

    They'll grow up eventually mate ;) . Fortunately the house has an orangery at the back which is full of kids stuff. My PS4s in there, but it's particularly difficult to relax in there when it's filled with toys and you step on Thomas the tank or one of his friends.

    @The_Goon that made me laugh out loud and is so bloody true.

    My house the kids have their bedroom, a play room and a dance room. I've got a Switch on the edge of a sofa if they're not sprawled over the sofa watching Dance Mom. How did it come to this?

    @quadfather That one was dedicated to you mate ;) . Like I say, tried and failed to go full on blue and pink. Disappointing but it's better than nothing. Just got to wait for the cupboards to be fitted and I'll take another picture when the other 10 meters of LED's are in.

    Excellent stuff :)

    I've just been looking at massive Victorian lampposts for outside my front door.

    Er, they're slightly over the top.

    I might get a knackered one cheap, and then do it up with new electrics inside.

    I like the idea of a big post like that. Have you got the space for it though?

    @the_milkybar_kid

    Yeah, I have out the front - before that crazy unadopted road starts, we all have a little area straight outside the front door - it'd go a treat there.

    There's an old lamppost at the entrance to this road, which is quite atmospheric at night, so it'd match with that too. Obviously on PIR only, not on all the time etc.

    Shit, I had to lob a hell of a lot of retro gamer mags out recently when I moved. You could have had them :/

    @quadfather Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo :-( .2 of those 5 draws are full of them but I'd have taken them off your hands.

    @askew Yes and no mate. Not auto configured but set it manually to match, because I'm a sad fucker. Did have 2 separate sets so I could set it to be contrasting. Something like this:

    But the LED's freaked out having 2 seperate remotes. That's what you get when you but Chinese I guess.

    You can buy the controllers pretty cheap, get one IR and one RF driver then the remotes wont cross over.

    @IpromithiusI Too late now, I cut off the receiver on the second one so it all connects as one long strip. Thank you though.

    And so the extension is finally finished. I've tried taking pictures with my DSLR but I can't manage to take a picture without it looking really boxy in there. Alas, it's a really nice space.

    And just for you Quaddy

    Now to hand over the rest of the cash for it :redface:
