You tell them you're taking the day off to enjoy a game, but more importantly you stop giving a shit about what other people think.
    Exactly.

I always look forward to days off through the week so I can get some "gamin" time in. What tends to happen though is I sit about in my underpants wallowing in my own crapulence while I spend hours watching shit on youtube, eating sandwiches and making love to myself. I like to scratch my ball area and then smell my fingers as a tester as to how much I need a shower. But the shower never comes.

That sounds much worse than it is when I see it written down. It really is good times.

One of the women at work said, "Oh my God!" when I told her I was taking a week off for GTA5. Her tone was one of utter shock and disbelief, like, 'what a loser'.

But when I think of how much enjoyment I'm going to get when I'm at home playing GTA5 and she's at her desk working away, I realised I don't give a fuck.

    She can eat a dick.

I book a weeks holiday whenever there is a new WoW expansion. Probably wouldn't want to waste it on some game that I could complete over teh weekend though.
Considering WoW is the only game you play, I find that pretty fucking funny.

I have taken the 29th of Nov and the following week off for the PS4 launch.

And football manager used to get a week off on its launch day. Now I just wait 2 months after it released for the proper bug free version and buy it cheaper then.

You know those times when you feel the hairs pricking on the back of your neck, or you think you see a face at the window, or the contents of your fridge don't seem to be how you remember leaving them? Yep.

Nothing wrong with taking time off to indulge in a hobby/passion/obsession.

But to be fair, you don't get out much gaming wise.

I never understand people eagerly waiting months for a game's release then booking a day or two off from work then smashing through it in a oner when it should be savoured and enjoyed.

Its no big deal, its your leisure time, use it how you want. I've got this whole week off. I've got a couple things I've arranged to do besides play GTA5... but gaming is going to be a big part of it.

Guess it makes sense if you have a family and you don't get much 'me' time. But I only work 20-35 hours and no family so I have plenty of time to play without needing a holiday.

I still give a shit about what people I barely know think about me, stupid I know.

Choppi has. Well, "she"'s said she thinks going shopping or getting a tan is a more worthwhile use of a day off, which is as good as saying "you should only do what I think you should do, otherwise it's a waste"
Dark, stop sticking things in my mouth.
I'm not, you said it yourself. You said taking a day off to play a game is "sad", but taking a day off to go shopping for clothes or sunbathe on a beach isn't because it makes you "sexy". And everyone can read this thread for themselves to see what you said, so don't bother denying it.

And then you admitted you're obsessed with appearance.

Which makes you ridiculously shallow. But then you already exposed yourself as a racist and a homophobe a long time ago, so it's really not surprising to discover you're also completely lacking in any sort of depth.

I don't think it's "weird". I do think it's unnecessary though, and I wouldn't do it myself, but meh, each to their own.

Unless of course you have a family and/or other evening/weekend commitments or summat that severely cut into your free time, in which case I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to take a day or two off for a big release and blow through it if that's what you want to do..

I have spent many a weekend gaming but I tend to feel a little guilty that I have wasted the days. (But generally only if the game turned out to be a bit shit).

I have kind of booked days off for gaming too but never for a specific title. When I take a long haul business flight back to the UK I always book the following day off. This day is frequently spent gaming. (I spent the last one watching Elementary though).

Not had many days off this year yet as I have spent most of it in China where I am prevented from taking any time off. When I do finally return I imagine I will book the rest of the year off and not do that much with it. (I need to get some building work done. So that may take up most of the free days and then visit my Mum for Christmas).

One of the main problems I have with my work is not been able to plan holidays and the like.

To take a day off to do something you like.
To work to be able to pay your bills.

Clear confession of been a homophobe.

Did a hot guy you once fancied turn out to be gay? Or did an ex boyfriend fuck your brother?

Just how much work does a teacher do? Whenever Any I've spoken to talk about the sheer effort they put in, all they offer as evidence of this is that they have to do work at home after the 6 hour school day ends and also have to work during the 15 weeks of holiday.

Last teacher I spoke to was complaining they had worked over 50 hours that week.

They did not get much sympathy as everyone else in the pub had done over 50 hours every week! (Currently in my 12th consecutive week of over 60 hours).

In sweden the've made it so that teachers should work as much as anyone else.
They didn't increase the pay though... nor can they afford overtime... cue a school with a rapidly declining quality.

I think teachers deserve to have as much time off as their students. It's one of the most important jobs in a society. If we're not willing to pay them really well then at least give them some time off.

Yup, long hours but guaranteed weekends off, full sick pay etc. Union protection, decent wage and career progression.
My ex wife is a teacher, the disparity between our works package is staggering.
