I consider myself of Cornish nationality, Celtic heritage, European culturally and I live in Australia. What am I?

I really don't get continents. What is what is so arbitrary

Hear ye. For whatever reason, it's still "Europe" and not "Germany".

That'd make India and the Arabian peninsula continents on their own though, and the rest of Asia a supercontinent with Europe, wouldn't it?

The continents as we know them are broadly defined by cultural and ethnic differences, which in themselves are broadly defined by the landmasses, which are then broadly defined by the tectonic plates. It all depends on how anal you're going to get about the definition.

    You are European.

Its a geographic thing as well as a political one.
Are you sure? Europe is geographically and culturally separated from Britain. Aren't Norway and Turkey culturally closer than Britain and France?
What continent would you say Britain was part of then?
I don't think Britain is part of anything. Britain is her own continent. She sometimes tried to appease continental Europe in the past, or the North American continent in the more recent past, but her own historical/cultural significance doesn't allow her to be "part" of anything else, does it?
You're making a cultural/political statement. One I disagree with, but nevertheless. As has been said, 'Europe' means different thigs

    I'm sure.
Geographically the UK is part of the European continent.

Culture is a totally different criteria that you have just introduced.

How is it in Continental Europe? Would the citizens of those countries readily identify themselves as being "European", or is thinking in terms of what continent are you from just too broad?

I'm Irish, have lived all my life in Ireland and have never heard another Irish person refer to themselves as being European and while I don't readily identify myself as such, I do acknowledge that yes, I am European.

When your talking continents you have to think how you define them. As there can be multiple measures,  broadly speaking it is geographical based on tectonic plates and natural boundaries such as mountain ranges. However their is some flexibility in this defination to allow for cultural differences and shared heritage.

These rules also apply to national borders, however wars and history effect these more. As for identifying culture and how society views it, well that's a whole other topic and out of the scope of a simple gaming forum. For example Russia is politically part of Europe (not the EU) but geographically is also part of Asia and the Artic, so where do you place them culturally ? People love to put things into boxes.
