I think you'd have a more significant effect by writing to a newspaper or an MP to complain about it. No matter how many people sign that petition, FIFA will say they are doing something about it, and that workers in Qatar are better off as a result of FIFA staging the world cup there. They say as much on the FIFA site:

We are pleased to see the standards of World Cup sites are higher than the average ones and that the Supreme Committee upholds the workers welfare as they committed to. That said we are naturally also recognizing that still more needs to be done in this regard in Qatar. We hope that the 2022 standards will become a benchmark, and others will also adopt these countrywide.
So. Far from being ashamed at having 1200 humans die in order to facilitate entertainment, they are actually congratulating themselves on less people dying at world cup sites than elsewhere. Perhaps they should award themselves bonuses for not being Hitler?
In short, you already know how they'll respond to any petition - by claiming things are better. So complain to a newspaper or MP instead. Not that they'll make much difference either, given how FIFA have responded to British newspapers and MPs in the past.
I think the FA should be brought under pressure not to send England to the Qatar World Cup. -

Registered 14 years agoI can't see the FIFA prblem ever being "solved". They are accountable to no one. No one at all. Even that report they published, which was massively doctored and possibly outright lies, essentially said that bribes were part of the system. That was OK though apparently.
Either the entire organisation needs replacing with good upstanding people or all national teams pull out and form a new group. Neither of these are likely so we are stuck with what we've got.
The fact Sepp is dtanding for office again just shows how little they care. There's barely even a pretence of doing anything properly. It's all a bit depressing when I write it out. -

Registered 15 years agoSo true! If only Fifa could feel shame or embarrassment - They really are immune to it, which I still find staggering.

I can’t remember who or where I heard this, but I seem to remember someone pretty legit telling me there was contingency plan in place for England to host 2022 and the FA we’re pretty confident it would happen. -
