Well upon my soul... Was watching that godawful gadget show on Channel 5 whilst Mrs Peej was doing her usual St Vitus Dance with the remote (channel flicking in other words) - and there was a snippet about converting old vynil to MP3 on there... "There's a rather nifty package over at DBPowerAmp called Auxilliary Input which can sit there ripping your favourite vynil and tapes down to separated MP3 tracks..." say they. "Quite nifty" say I. So I thought I'd give it a go over the weekend, dug out my crusty old Denon Tape separate, got a nice sound coming out of the headphone socket then plumbed that in through a couple of filters and the LINE IN socket on my sound card. It takes some tweaking - you have to set the thing to detect silences (so if the signal drops below 10dbs for 150ms it'll auto-shift to record the next track without any fiddling about stopping/starting again) Anyway try it - it kinda works quite nicely... (Cue MP3 whore or sound professional to shoot thread down in flames) Peej Edited by pjmaybe at 09:01:41 07-02-2005 |
