Registered 10 years agoI thought they did that scene well. She sees him and reacts and he has to defend himself. A conversation might have actually made it feel weird.
They showed in previous seasons she isn't afraid of violence and she didn't know what he wanted after she betrayed him/felt betrayed by him.
I wonder how many even remember he gave her that chain last season?

And skipping it all together would really miss out on pretty much the biggest twist the series has left. -

Registered 17 years agoPretty much. Didn't he end up bleeding out in the river in the book though rather than bleeding out next to a rock? -

The fight at the inn from the start of the season happened, he got wounded in that and Arya then left him to bleed out.

Registered 9 years agoGod the skeletons and fireballs were so shit. Why did they change that from the book? Isn't it just normal wights and torches? -

Registered 10 years agoWell its already gone ahead of the books in some areas.
Season 5 will still be taking from the 3rd with Jon becoming lord commander and possibly LS not to mention they can trim the fat and still get a season and a half out of Feast/Dragons. -

Registered 17 years agoI was getting confused in the TV show thread. Varys doesn't leave with Tyrion does he?
I realise from the TV show and the discussions here and in the book thread that I have forgotten massive chunks of stuff from the books but I thought Varys just frees Tyrion and Tyrion is off on his own.
As such, when I watched the season finale, I figured Varys was overlooking Tyrion's crate getting on board the ship and assumed he's then slip back into the red keep through his secret tunnels and pathways.
The TV viewers seem to have come to the conclusion that Tyrion and Varys will be sailing away together. Are they just jumping to that conclusion based on Varys being at the docks? Did I remember it all wrong and are they actually leaving together? Or is this a change in the TV series?

@ubergine I always thought that Coldhands was Benjen Stark -

@Salaman In the television series it suggested to the audience that Varys had left with Tyrion since Varys he departs the docks the bells of the Red Keep begin to ring and he turns back towards the boat.
I think this is a narrative change for the TV series since Magister Illyrio has had a much larger part in the books and is much more benevolent character, compared with the TV version. I can see Varys replacing Illyrio role of escorting Tyrion to the the Griff. -

Registered 17 years agoFound a graph detailing which chapters are referenced by plot, theme or information in which episodes. Mild spoilers contained in chapter titles if you have not read all the books - they are merely the POV character's name (only those chapters referenced post-Storm of Swords are actually named to minimise the potential spoilering):

A guy at work is convinced the guy Dany is banging is Benjen. It is a nice thought but I imagine Benjen to be an even more introverted character than Ned. So not the sort of person that can charm a queen.
