HD is fine for me, on my laptop.

Don't really care what's going on either side of the actual forum bit. iPad does look silly on Charlie's post, but the site is still usable, right?

Craigy did say he knows he's neglected this site a bit as he's been so busy elsewhere on the likes of USGamer, and I think he also said this site will get a bit of an upgrade around Christmas. I'm pretty sure those that can fix these issues are aware of them, really don't think you need to keep repeating the same complaint.

I think it's pretty valid to complain about something a lot of people used being taken away for no reason with a replacement eta of Christmas, leaving them with replacements that are either horrible to use (HD view on tablets) or chock full of bugs (ad loading in mobile view causing it to leap about on the screen, and the new "let's launch your app store randomly" one).

It's also pretty valid to repeat the complaint when they've never really addressed it beyond a fairly vague "CHANGE AT SOME POINT". In fact, they seem to be just ignoring it outright.

Plus, if the changes are related to ad services and revenue, you'd think they'd at least address the people going "I'm using adblock now".

    So....mobile view is coming back?

HD is as laggy as fuck on my iPad.

I couldn't care less about the ads. I'd just like to be able to read the thread titles without having to zoom in like I did on my mobile phone in 2003.

Not only are the adverts becoming overwhelmingly intrusive, but they keep spring loading the page downwards after the page has already stopped loading.

... the Wolverine advert has far too many 'accidental' buttons waiting to be pressed; the mini photo gallery, the trailer/video, the link to the films website and some Twitter bollocks.

Basically, the moral of this is this:

    BRING BACK PORTABLE VIEW!

    It's just horrible.
I wonder how many extra clicks they've got from it though, huh?

Fucking this. How many times do i have to click an ad, or the wrong damned thread FFS!

All my browsing will be getting done on the unofficial app at this rate, since viewing on the ipad is just a nightmare.

Are we going back to a readable view anytime soon or is it time to start looking elsewhere?

Is there a way to select mobile view permanently? It is much easier on the eyes. I am not getting on with this HD nonsense on my tablet browsing at all.

It's just the toggle at the bottom isn't it?
I've yet to choose one and have it switch around, unless I load the site up when I'm not logged in, say, when in private mode or something because I've just been busy m..... I've said too much.

It defaults to HD mode, which means constantly having to scroll down to change to mobile mode. HD on a tablet is horrid.

It doesn't for me... on an ipad mini/Safari.

ALTHOUGH THE TOGGLE WORKS FOR ME DO NOT THINK FOR A SINGLE SECOND THAT THAT MAKES UP FOR THE LOSS OF PORTABLE VIEW THOUGH EG PONCES!

Haha, you've fucked yourself there! :D

I am using the mercury browser, which is normally pretty good. Its HD mode that is the problem, ARE YOU GETTING THAT CRAIGY? I guess he's on the US site again.

Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

You can set custom stylesheets in Chrome and Firefox: I might see if the Wayback Machine has an archive of portable mode from which we can rip the CSS.

You'll need the other forum ones too!

    portable/threads.css
    portable/thread.css
    portable/reply.css
  • Deleted user 14 November 2013 09:54:12
Craigy, help us out a little bit more by just ADDING THE PORTABLE VIEW AGAIN.

    PLEASE.

    KTHNX

Heh, yes - when I used Stylish to apply, I got the nicely styled listings within the mobile container >_>

Heh. Setting it to HD, rather than mobile, with that stylesheet seems to strike a balance.
