Really good episode after 2 weaker ones. What was with Kim crying though?

I don't really know (it might be something that gets revealed in another episode), but I think it was partly the effect of seeing Jimmy just nonchalantly throwing it all away. He's just cold now, and maybe it hurts to see that in your partner.

For me, Kim was initially tearing up because of what Chuck wrote. Words of praise and recognition for Jimmy which he never managed to get past his lips when he was alive (clearly the letter is a few years old as well).

This turned to tears for Jimmy when she saw how untouched he is by the letter. No emotion what so ever. This is her boyfriend, the guy she thinks is putting on a brave face. The guy she chewed Howard Hamlin out over to protect his feelings.

Turns out he's not putting on a brave face. He just doesn't have any feelings or he's bottling them up so deeply that he can't even show them at such a moment, when alone with her.

That's why she needs a minute and flees to the bedroom.

    Jimmy just seems bemused.

Another good episode, but I preferred the first two.

Though the night time escapade at the office was good fun!

Felt like a bit of a filler episode that one. Was still decent but if you skipped it you wouldn't be missing that much.

Character development isn't "filler" imo, it's just as important to a show as plot development is.

Hell, one of the best episodes of Breaking Bad was just Walt and Jesse trying to catch a stupid fly. Basically zero plot progression, but the show would be lesser without it.

I didn't feel there was much in the way of character development either. Jimmy is still in denial or something about his brother, Kim was pretty much Kim, Mike did a Mike thing.

I suppose the theft of the antique nudges Jimmy ever closer to Saul so there's that.

It developed Gus at the least, and how he put his plan into action to position himself as the kingpin stateside, as well as the frying pan to the fire trials of Nacho. Not to mention Gale's place in the operation.

Saying that though, we're approaching the middle of season 4. If something of substance doesn't happen soon I'm going to start losing interest.

What was great about the final scene was that it plays with the audiences expectations as well. I think that like Kim, we are expecting that Jimmy's facade will break as he reads the letter. Instead hes reading it so dry, even eating mouthfuls of cereal as he does it and he couldnt be less interested. That was enough for Kim. You could also say that Kim feels some guilt over Chucks death as she was somewhat complicit in helping Chuck get to that state.

Episode 3 was brilliant. Best yet this series. That final scene, sheesh. Kim actress is killing it this series.

This episode was another masterclass from Mike!

Not sure I am following what Kim is up to at court... Or whether that is yet to be revealed.

Was annoyed by Jimmy lying to Kim for the briefest of moments early on too! So not looking forward to how that relationship ends... :(

Just watched on my dinner. Must have skipped through 5-6 minutes of long, establishing shots.

It's been that long since Mike and Nacho had scenes together, what was their plan that Gus was talking about?

To poison Hector Salamanca. It literally happened last season.

Which was last year. Can vaguely remember them scenes from a few seasons ago but fuck knows what for. Can't remember Mike having any involvement in it. Time to hit Wikipedia.

Man, it must have been so hard to keep up when literally every TV show (as of 5 years ago) had "seasons" from year to year to keep up with.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or being a dick, but yeah forgive me for not remembering every intricacy from a show a year ago.

It's interesting that Kim is the one yearning to go back to criminal law.

Well that was one of the main plot points of last season, and Nacho's assassination attempt was built up over quite a few episodes, but honestly I agree; It's pretty difficult to remember things that happened in previous seasons. I'd wait until the series has aired in full, but you just can't avoid spoilers anymore.

After the latest episode I had to refresh my knowledge on Mike's dealings with Nacho, Tuco, Hector, and Gus. I'd forgotten a lot of it.

I think some people can effortlessly remember every detail, and other people struggle, like me, unless it's made specifically memorable.

My uncle, for example, can read endless physics and computing textbooks and remember every last detail, so he's never struggled academically and is an endless source of knowledge. Only now that he's in his 70s is he starting to struggle to recall facts, like the rest of us. I've gone a bit off piste here haven't I.
