Original thread title - "There's No Smoke Without (Poorly Moderated) Fire..."

Yeah, yeah, I know it doesn't really matter (as even the most boring and sheltered of us have better things to be doing), but what the hell is happening around here?

Why on earth are perfectly fine thread titles being changed to suit what a mod deems correct? Why open a thread claiming that it's being brought up all over the forum so we'll stick discussion into one place and then lock it? If moderators want to clean the forum up (cursing in thread titles is fair game, but removing the word "swapsie" from the swapsie thread? Christ.) then surely an open dialogue with the community is the way to do it, not making nitpick changes all over the place?

If people are giving out about it across the forums, then is it not unnecessarily pissing off your community? A moderator's job isn't to nitpick and get all pissy when posters pull them up on it, it's to prevent arguments, trolling, bullying etc. (but then EG is know to have a few habitual trolls that have carte blanche in the way they can speak to fellow forumites).

As was mentioned in the other thread (and "who'd be a moderator, eh?" is a a deliberately antagonistic title), sites like this live and die by the community. Piss off that community and they're gone. I see someone has quit the site already - a bit of an overreaction, absolutely, but the fact of the matter is EG is already receiving one less click because of poor/over zealous moderation.

Like it or not (real smooth move implying people should have something better to be doing and calling someone "princess", by the way. In fact that's precisely the kind of shit you should be moderating, not spouting) it's causing a negative reaction with several members of the community, that in itself warrants discussion.

I look forward to your comments/thread title renaming/inevitable lock.

I was going to post a "This thread is awaiting moderation" thread earlier but figured I'd get permabanned.

To be honest, if they can't even be bothered to post a sticky with guidelines of what they want/expect from thread titles then just stealthily changing shit is just lame.

Seriously, give the guy (HA) a fucking break. He meant no harm whatsoever and it was all well meaning, plus it was fuck all really. It really is time to let this one go.

personally, i wouldnt have a problem with the recent moderation so much if it was acting in consistency with all other moderation on the board and followed agreed and publicised moderation guidelines and the actions had been applied because of a joint agreement between all moderators followingi instructions from above to refine thread titles etc. and then the forum members had been informed in advance

problem is, it certainly didnt seem that way and nothing ha posted insinuated otherwise...which has made this such an issue and hence people are seeing it as a lone moderator gone rogue more than anything else

to be fair though, iirc, another mod changed his thread title...couldve got that wrong, though...

who's gone, btw?

I made a point of not naming names in my OP.

Fact is that the (so-called) moderation has gone to shit and if people want to discuss it, we should have a place to do it.
