1 month free, but if you can 'befriend' somebody with the collectors edition they can give you a CDkey which gives you a week (or is it two) so you can download the client and give it a try without spending a penny.

There is indeed, one month free trial to start you off. You can then pay month by month, or for a number of months at a time. If that makes sense.

Thanks a lot guys, a month sounds a reasonable time for a (paid) trial. I loved the idea of FFXI, but a) lacked a hard drive for the game and an OS, and b) didn't have a connection for my games machine. I'm wondering if it's time to finally take the plunge, even though I'm not a big Warcraft RTS fan.

This is a completely different beast compared to the RTS Warcraft.

I didn't like the Warcraft RTS games at all, and I never liked the cartoony style. 1o minutes playing WoW, and I was hooked.

WoW is my first (well will be) MMORPG. I had a dabble at ultima online and anarchy in a trial period, and both confused the bejesus out of me.

however apart from the stunning views, my first half hour spent in wow was getting to grips with the controls and learning the nuances of the xp, mission and char characteristics. After that everything was remarkably easy and self intuative. Mind due the actual staying alive part is definatly not easy

Yeah, this whole WoW thing just completely sneaked (Snuk? Snooked? Sneuked?) up on me, and I'm surprised by my own sudden interest as I'd avoided the others because they're RTS games and I have no knowledge of the universe. I rememer you mentioning your Diablo 2 recollections in one post which piqued my curiosity (I was actually playing that two days back - again) and it just sounds fun, which is the only real reason I'm bothered - I'm never going to be the l337est, that's for sure

And I do have a fifteen quid HMV voucher...

I didn't bother with the beta - couldn't be arsed downloading it - and this is the first MMOG that's really appealed to me (and which has actually been getting great reviews), so like Ajay I'm totally new to this sort of thing.

Well, after all the great things I've been hearing I'm excited now, so count me in. I'll be picking up the game tomorrow lunchtime and I'll see you folks on whatever server you all decide to join

If you're in two minds, maybe you should wait until the inevitable, first weekend server crashes are out the way before you rush out and buy it.

Well, i'm off to bed now lads - fingers crossed i'll get the game tomorrow morning (around 10/11) - so i'll leave it to you lot to figure out what server to play on!

remember to drop me an e-mail with the server (for Horde/Alliance) to wow at pirotic dot com, so i can host it on the site for when EG goes down.

Ok, I'm gonna go to sleep soon

so will miss launch (not that i get my copy till tommorow *hopefully*), but I've given a friend the instruction to join the first PvP server beginning with 'M' or after in the alphabet.
That way we should be a middle PvP server and not too crowded, so if you want to join up you can do the same thing.
Of course thats if they dont do something horrible like have m-z named servers as pve:/, or my friend picks 'Archimonde' :/

New patch is now available , I managed to log in wih my beta name and pass to get the update.

Now lets see if the servers appear !

It's not like they are not all going to be full anyway. And if we all join a small server, then we'll be the uber hard d00ds and can run around doing the ganking ourselves (j/k)
