Hello dear forumites. It's been a while since my last thread, but who better to turn to in a time of (technical) need?

I'm having an issue (seems to be primarily on Sky) whereby when running 5.1 sound through my amp (Sony) the sound occasionally seems to 'skip'. It's hard to describe but it's almost like the sound cuts out for a split second then returns.

I'm running the Sky box into the amp via an HDMI cable (alongside a 360 and PS3). The amp then outputs to the screen. I don't have these issues with either console.

Could this be an HDMI cable issue or something to do with my setup? Any advice appreciated :)

I thought Sky boxes didn't output 5.1 via HDMI and one had to use an optical cable?

Edit: Seems it's a new feature. link.

Same issue here. I think it's only Sony made amps that have this problem. As the above poster suggested, slap an optical cable in.
