Finally got on, only to have loadsa crashes. Boo! Next weekend is another Beta one, then nothing announced until launch. However, should be some sort of open beta. Still lotsa bugs, but other than these new crashes, nothing game-breaking. |

You have to make a bit of an effort to dig into the quests. They're pretty throwaway a lot of the time. I find the lore dumps more interesting, and what the quests lead to/through. E.g. in Elleavar [sic?] on Dominion side, there's a series of quests that lead to a bit of story, ending in a cutscene. It's a fun hour or so of gaming, a mini-episode. The tasks are just that - tasks, for compensation. The episodes are sometimes a bit more involved.
The new Datachron is hideous, wtf.

Registered 15 years agoHave really been enjoying this too, but am limiting my time with because
a) the bugs are annoying. they have already fixed 750+ of them, but couldn't be implemented until next weekend or open beta. so I do not want to get frustrated with the game, if that makes any sense.
b) i don't want to get too attached to my character as of course he will be going bye bye.
The music, humor and general fun of it is what I am really enjoying. That and the devs are very up front in fixing what needs fixing, listening to there playbase and also explaining why they won't change some things because it goes against there "vision". I hope this aspect keeps up past launch. -
Yeah, I don't wanna play any more really. Everything's going to vanish anyway. -
I actually had to force myself to stop playing at the weekend, that's a really good sign as far as iam concerned. So I installed LOTRO as that can be pretty immersive, and I have permanent VIP status.
So not going to play Wildstar at all now till launch, I know my class and race. The two things I wanted to know before launch. -

Registered 15 years agoI was going to wait until after open beta when the next bug fix patch is meant to be hitting.
But that... is tempting. Hmm! -
Is there not another patch before tomorrow? MOAR FIXES PLZ. -

Registered 15 years agoNot too sure. I'm hoping there is, but the size of the bug fix patch must be quite large, and so I would presume they would wait until the open beta as that's always more of a advertisement for the game.
Hope I am wrong though. Hell even fixing the bug where the icons for interacting with objects would suit me! -

Registered 15 years agoI was going to stop playing MMOs but this is looking to be really good. I've been playing guild wars 2 recently since not touching it from launch and I've been enjoying my time with it even though I've been playing solo most of the time. -

Registered 15 years agoAh update from the devs. Better than nothing!
We didn't make it through all 750+, but we got a ton (over half) of those changes through QA and got a stable enough of a build to push out for this weekend. That should hit the patcher later today. So while I'm sure we fixed a bunch of the high annoyance ones, it is certainly possible that we left some in that other half of fixes we didn't get integrated into our release build (not to mention all of the new/ongoing fixes that are coming in daily). -
Patch (and new launcher?) out. -

Registered 7 years agoIs there any solution to the region locking? Want to play with a friend in the UK (I'm US) and seems like we can't play together... haven't really had a chance to look but I've got some holiday coming up and I'm looking for something new to play. -
You can't region lock a PC, so I assume your talking about servers. With MMOs there are two different approaches to servers.
Either you make an account and then your character on a server, if its a EU server then your character is playing with EU people at their times (such as LOTRO) or the other approach where your CD key dictates which server cluster. So a EU retail key for EU servers ( example WOW).
In both cases it sill be hard or impossible to move a character from a EU server to a US server or visa versa. So ask yourself which server will you mainly play on going forward, if you play at European times, for example you work night shifts then why not, otherwise I suggest you stick to US servers.
This isn't special to Wildstar it is just the way standard server locations are. Off the top of my head Rift is the only MMO where you can instantly move characters between servers without penalty. Even ESOs fancy new megatech i bet won't switch regions. This isn't region locking as you put it, as there is nothing stopping you using any server on your PC. Worst case you will need a EU key.

Registered 15 years agoWell nothing much has changed this weekend. Datachron is 100x better. Seemed to be running a bit better. Still a game I very much want to play.
Just can't play beta much anymore. Done my bug reports, feel like I have contributed. Roll on open beta for a final check around, and then I shall pre order and look forward to release! -

Registered 15 years agoWell I decided to go for it as I can't seem to resist some MMOs even though I only play them for a short while. WoW ate up too much of my life for me to play something that intensely again -
Only worry now is optimization: performance varies wildly between setups. Hope they can buff it. -
The amount of negativity on the front page surprises me. Anyone would think people dont want new games!
Ok i get its far from perfect and subscriptions are not for everyone but really some things. Wanting it playable on a gamepad, a different business model, the art style etc If you don't like a game that's fine but why do you need to pick holes in every thing you personally isn't for you.
Saying that maybe iam not the best judge as iam playing (and enjoying) TERA at the moment.

Ok seems to be working.
Also you can change to now play on European servers, you do this by selecting settings in the launcher. -
Worked fine for me, until I went into a certain part of Thayd, wherein I got booted. Rest of game world is fine, except that small corner. Ahhhh, MMOs. -
