I am extremely happy with my ad-content right now, and never expected to use that sentence. ![]() The background banners are all the latest steam games (good or bad). They do auto-play with animations, but I was never one to get upset with that. It just makes the site more colorful and welcoming IMO. It's very tasteful. All the stuff on the bottom between comments and article is non-offensive google stuff. All other incidental ads I barely notice, but are all appropriatly demure and technology/interest related. I know it's ironic and not exactly what the advertisers want to hear, but this is the kind of stuff I can either choose to indulge, or completely block out of my mind as a factor. I even browsed the steam stuff a couple of times! I clicked on the Korrean horror one and th current Mars Pioneer stuff! I am amused by the Pillars of Eternity ad. Imagine that! Well done you. I hope it's working out for you fellas money-wise. Anyone still blocking over the auto-play animations, or am I the only one who has those because the diametrics have figured out they bring out my inner 10-year old? In fairness to the change over I have clicked on multiple ads on this website and I haven't done that for a long long time anywhere. -
@bennyw01 Hello! I'm seeing this advert on EG articles. Looks like a good way to get infected by malware to me!

Registered 11 years agoDriver support actually isn't one of the bad guys.
It's just an obnoxious attempt to get people to pay for a service that should be redundant in 2017. If you don't know how to get drivers yourself, you deserve to be fleeced.

@MrTomFTW Not the one! I will seek a destroy, thanks for bringing it to my attention. -

Registered 19 years agoWe all hate adverts, it's true. Looks like the pirate bay have come up with an interesting alternative. Mining monero (a cryptocurrency) while users have th page open. I think the way they ran teh experiment was a bit shitty, not telling people, but I think the idea is really sound.

Plenty of stories on this now as it's hit the mainstream. Wonder if EG would consider doing something similar? -

Perhaps they could make the forum take up one fifth of the page width to save cpu? -

Registered 14 years agoTwice now I've seen an ad for Jelly Deals with a lovely blue or red switch controller with grey sticks and buttons. I clicked the ad and to my horror, it seems that it was all a lie designed to get me to click.
Please terminate this misleading ad forthwith. -

Registered 14 years agoThe Tom Hardy Sky Mobile Ad is making my webpage dart all over the place while it loads in. Constantly dragging my attention to it for nefarious reasons i guess...can it be stopped? -

Registered 15 years agoIt seems to be a number of the video ads actually. They keep forcing the browser back to look at them. Had a BP one do it and when that finished, a Thompson one did it as well.
Also they autoplay audio. Big nono. Kill'em.

Registered 16 years agoAuto-play audio is definitely against those standards EG said they were using (Better Ads standards), so I assume that's an ad provider pushing their luck. -

Registered 15 years ago@bennyw01 a lot of shit going on ben, see above. I'm getting "Connecting..." on Chrome, web page jumping around all over the place, ads loading, audio, "Waiting for delivery.optimatic.com" etc..etc..
I'm having to resort to work now. -
Really sorry about this guys! been battling this today, some advertiser is trying to pull a fast one! we do follow the Better Ads Policy so as you can imagine this is pissing a few people off across the industry today.
We have also found that it is mainly happening to readers who read substantially above the average pages per user! so apologies, its basically our repeat offenders getting poor service due to how demand works in an ad exchange.
Bear with us! I am of course destroying as and when they arrive and I am sure the ad providers are equally pushing to remove. -

@BigOrkWaaagh Sorry mate! I did send your feedback over to the design team, but there has been a family matter which has kept them away from their desk, so design time has been limited! its noted and we apologise, its definitely not intentional. -

Registered 16 years agohttp://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-10-17-rogue-trooper-redux-review (and the GTS review) pages keep jumping out, possibly the Lineage 2 advert, or maybe the Foreshoo.com one (let's face it, it'll be the latter).

Registered 16 years agohad the same issue as supra_hans, page jumped around as ads loaded in, COD one seemed like it was pulling focus, then something else pulling focus afterwards
