Registered 16 years agoAnother incredibly obnoxious ad that makes it difficult to look at the bit in the middle of the screen you actually want to see.
This time it's the Sony E3 ad, In Safari the ad loads, then the rest of the page, then the ad background pops over everything for a moment just when you're trying to read, then back behind again. Then it loads something else with various instances of moment in the background and is generally so distracting it's difficult to read.
What is wrong with normal ads which are static unless somebody wants to interact with them?

Probably because you're less likely to accidentally click on them. Does anybody in world ever click on ads willingly?

Registered 10 years agoThat Last of Us ad makes checking the front page impossible on my phone. Soon as I scroll down the ad takes over so I have to reload or just jump to the forums.
EG are actually single handedly making me hate the game. -

It's splitting the page in half for me where usually there would be little or no gap between most popular and news today.
Not a problem for me on a nexus 4 just need to scroll a little more. -

Congrats on the TLOU mobile ad. I think a new low has been set -
@Nazo
Hi Nazo,
Are you experiencing issues with this placement? -
What this placement should do guys is sit below the content so when you scroll past it loads through accordingly.
If you are experiencing any issues please let me know the details and myself along side the tech department will look into this for you.
We did vigorous testing on this one on multiple devices and has been weeks in the making so it really shouldn't be causing any disruption.
However 'shouldn't' is the word here and I will do everything in my ability to get these issues rectified or it will be coming down. -
@bennyw01
On Windows Phone, I can get about halfway down the front page or any article before everything except the ad disappears. The scroll bar is still there, but all I can see is the ad. If I scroll back up, the article reappears and then dissapears when I scroll back down. -
@bennyw01
Just made some notes on the front page. What I get:
Popular now.
Down to article "Sony lists Journey......."
Blank space to show ad.
Today.
I can get as far as the headline "Telltales The Walking Dead......."
If I try and scroll past that last headline, everything vanishes.
It's the same with individual articles. Basically everything except the forum is completely unusable for me. -

I think it's working correctly, it's just an unbelievably offensive design. No-one opens ads so we'll force full-screen ads on anyone who wants to use our site.
It's not obvious that you can keep scrolling to get to the next batch of content so it looks like the site is broken as other people's replies indicate. -
Pressing the search button and then back on windows phone fixes the page temporarily I've discovered. I can now scroll to the bottom of the page, but if I scroll back up it all turns to shit again. -
@Nazo Duly noted! I have passed this feedback onto the management team too hopefully look at a way of making this more obvious and less offensive for you.
Your feedback is valuable to my team and will be sure to review this together.
Mobile advertising is definitely going to be huge within the next year so to ensure as a group we do this correctly is massively important to us all at Gamer Network.
Please feel free to drop me a PM any time with any further issues or feedback you wish to share. -
I have now made it so this ad only appears on iOS 7 and Android 4.. this will ensure it is appearing correctly on those devices that we can be certain it is performing as expected.
Will provide future updates on any further versions or OS inclusion roll-outs. -

Thanks. I tried it on my iPad Mini to compare and it doesn't seem as bad as the hole for the ad is smaller than the screen unlike on my phone.
it still doesn't work right though as the background shifts position when starting / stopping scrolling. -

Registered 13 years agoThat Last of Us ad is still messing up any front page article I click on and covers a lot of the text when I use my iPad mini. Bah. -
Pressing at the top of the ipod screen to scroll all the way back to the top no longer works since this ad was introduced. -
