While Amazon confirmed that making changes to your pre order will not make a difference to delivery (see eurogamer article here: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-10-23-amazon-altering-ps4-payment-method-wont-jeopardise-delivery-date) I have been informed today that this is not the case for xbox one orders, see email I received from Amazon: --- Thank you for your time earlier this afternoon. My name is XXX from the Customer Escalation Team. Following our telephone conversation, I'm sorry to learn of your experience regarding your pre-order for an Xbox One Day One Edition Console, which includes a download code for Forza 5. I understand that the payment details for this particular order were updated, most recently, yesterday, XXth November at xx:xx pm. As we discussed during our second telephone conversation, any order placed after August, more specifically, August the 15th, cannot be guaranteed for release day delivery. We will however, as I mentioned, endeavour to dispatch any orders placed after this date as soon as we possibly can, dependant on stock availability. I can see that my colleague who you spoke to during a Chat session on the xxth November, advised that we expect to dispatch your order by the 21st November. I would like to point out that this date cannot be guaranteed at this stage, due to the date that the order was placed and taking into consideration that changes to the order had been made. I would be confident in saying that you will receive your console bundle before Christmas, however we wouldn't be in a position to provide a firmer dispatch or delivery date for your order at this stage. As the release day for both consoles quickly approaches, you may find that your delivery will change when we have a better understanding of how many orders were going to fulfill, as potentially, there maybe some Customers who decide to cancel their pre-order. Should any additional information become available, I'll be certain to get in touch with you personally. I hope this helps. We hope that we’ll see you again soon. Thank you for shopping with Amazon.co.uk. ---- Im gutting to say the least, watch out guys, don't make any chances or you ll end up like me! Edited by JoJoUK at 15:35:14 16-11-2013 |

Their email reads that maybe you shouldn't have kept pestering them and your order likely wouldn't have been affected. -

Registered 20 years agoKind of awkward if you need to update your credit card details. Although short of getting it stolen and having to block it, I can't see why you'd need to. -

Really, I thought being able to update the back up payment details (card originally used was out of it's 0% period) before any payment was charged would be totally reasonable, especially when Amazon previously stated that on a previous occasion that it shouldn't affect your order status. I would understand that if they outlined that before changing order details.

Pester? I had an online chat, emailed them (once) and then they called me... then they emailed me... I don't know if that would be pestering...
I just wanted to post this because of the article I read on the eurogamer website, I didnt want this to happen to others, sorry.
UPDATE: So Amazon emailed me to say that any Xbox One which is a Day One edition is going to be shipped on the 21st for next day delivery so they all should be delivered on the 22nd. They computer system is not updating order details and therefore people should ignore the estimated delivery day (if they have the Day One edition on pre order). PHEW.

Registered 20 years agoNah, it's fair enough. Doesn't surprise me to be honest - Amazon website and processes were pretty much perfect five years ago - every change they've done since then has made it a little bit worse. -

Registered 8 years agoSimilar thing happened to me. Was taking a look at my day one FIFA bundle (ordered June 13th) and saw that one day shipping which I had selected previously was now gone. So I ticked the expedited option. The price then dropped by a pound. Figuring I had now selected a worse shipping option I mailed amazon. After various comments about changing payments and payment problems (none true) I was told that the orders were being sent in order of date of orders placed and with mine being very early I SHOULD get it for launch day. My delivery status is currently the we need more time for an estimate blah blah.
Fingers crossed for Friday. -

Registered 10 years agoI was just on the receiving end of this amazon balls up. I pre ordered on 31/05/2013 and as my card used to pre order expired I updated my account/order with my new cards details. Lo and behold my order changed to a standard edition XB1 and a change in delivery date.
I spoke to someone who was very nice but we had, err, language problems! After complaining further about amazon's poor policy I got put through to a supervisor who said it was Microsoft's fault... anyway, long story short, I called BS and got put through to a member of the escalation team who was mega helpful. He emailed me confirmation of my day one edition being delivered on Friday and advised me to tick the expedited delivery option as it wouldn't cost me any more and would guarantee a Friday delivery.
What to take away from this? Don't pre order with amazon again and complain until you get out through to the escalation team. Oh, and make sure you tick that expedited delivery option. -

Hi,
I just received the same problem when I cancelled Battlefield 4 with Amazon UK. Delivery date unknown and informed that I'm at the back of queue.
I was on the phone to them today and was told that I would be called back, as there wasn't anything that they could do. Do you have a contact by any chance?
Thanks.

Registered 8 years ago@aceexcalibur I don't have a contact, sorry, I spoke with the Customer Escalation Team if thats any help. I did get this email from them:
Xbox One Consoles (Day One Editions) will be shipped on Thursday 21 November 2013 by a one day carrier. Any changes made to the order will change the visual delivery date but will not affect delivery in any way, all orders containing B00BM2LLB2/B00DCUPE2O will dispatch Thursday 21 November 2013 by a one day carrier regardless of the Estimated Delivery Date. If you search 'B00BM2LLB2' or 'B00DCUPE2O' online you'll find the Fifa and Forza day one bundles on Amazon so it looks like Day One consoles ARE getting sent out for release day. -

Registered 14 years ago@JoJoUK Thank you for the reply. Where do you find if this number applies to you? On your order on the Amazon.co.uk 'my order page', or does your e-mail contain B00BM2LLB2/B00DCUPE2O?
I have checked my Amazon account and e-mail notifications and just find the standard 17 digit order number?
Or am I confused and Amazon have informed you that any orders which are associated with B00BM2LLB2/B00DCUPE2O will be released on the release date? So namely day one consoles and anyone who has been told that they are receiving one?
Many thanks. -

I appreciate your more formal and respectful way or writing forum posts like a letter. More should follow your example (and less should preorder anything from Amazon).
Yours sincerely,

Registered 14 years agoI changed my delivery method to expedited and now my delivery estimate is "we need more time...".
I called and the person couldn't tell me for sure that I would get my day one on the 22nd. Now I have to wait until Wednesday to find out.
Sucks. -

Registered 14 years agoOK just received an email reassuring me that I will receive my console on time. According to shipment plan it still states that my Xbox will be dispatched the day before release.
However, further changes may affect delivery.... -
