Registered 18 years agoHaving seen the first 15 eps or so, I have to say that it's not awful, but it's hardly genious either. It's one of those shows that is distinctly average, and many of the "jokes" fall flat and yet the crowd still laughs (in that sad pathetic american tradition) as if it was the funniest thing ever. Kinda like Friends really.....
/hopes people don't see it as the best thing evar after a few seasons ala Friends
For me, it's something I watch to fill some time, rather then for 1st class entertainment
/watches another episode of scrubs

having seen the first 16 episodes its not bad.Its not the funniest thing on TV but it fills a whole.
ITs better than most of the sitcoms that BBC and ITV are shovling out. You know, those one that "star" Jamie Theaksten or Amanda holden or someone else who can't act and isn;t funny but is famous for some reason (sex/drugs usualy) -

yea but surely Joey (Deacon ..arf) has had shit loads of money pumped into it and loads of well paid top writers brought in and it's still a pile of average bollocks that is getting shite ratings in the US and will be dropped soon anyway
don't settle for this bollocks just because amanda holden has been in something worse
it's mainstream nads at its most average .. don't let it fill your hole, havn't you got some computer games to play? -

Registered 17 years agoI've seen the first 16 episodes now and I have to say I wasn't too impressed when I first started watching it.
It definately grows on you though. The first few eps are character building and a bit dull but it really gets into it's stride later in the series - watch out for Joey's agent, she has me in stitches every time she opens her mouth!
So if you can stick with it, you'll find yourself enjoying it a bit more. -

Registered 18 years agoI thought it was alright. I mean, I found it entertaining enough and I didn't find it particularly cringe-worthy. Still, much much better than 'According to Bex' or some other painfully embarrassing sitcom the BBC can produce. -

Registered 18 years agoWe watched about ten minutes of it last night on Channel 5, and had to turn it off. I was a Friends fan, but I thought this was absolutely awful - really unfunny and rather cringeworthy. Won't be watching again. We watched that Kevin Smith dvd instead

Even through the fog of stonedness, this was crap! His nephew is like Data from Star Trek; y'know, tortured genius type who learns a lesson whilst joey, mystically comes up with well-timed wisdom to save the day and keep everyone on the level.....
Majorly predictable and so formulaic, I wonder how the actors did not fall over the steps of making it..... -

Registered 17 years agoDid anyone find it a bit ironic that the Joey character was talking about fearing change but having to go for it and do something new... yet Matt LeBlanc is doing the exact opposite by playing a character he's played for more than ten years? -

Registered 17 years agoDunno... I can't stand Frasier. I hate the character for the same reasons I hated half the characters in Friends - like the Ross character.
These dudes are meant to be educated but they're fucking dipshits who you want to mash with a hammer. For me, Friends was a case of "I'm 20! I can't deal with life! I'm 25, I can't deal with life! I'm 30! I can't deal with life and my lesbian ex-wife had my baby and he hates me! Wah!" etc...
It'd be great if they ended Frasier with him getting shot. In the face. -

Registered 19 years agoAh, Frasier was all about pricking the pomposity of insufferable, elitist bores. (And not identifying with them, no sirree).
Joey was, as people have said, rather average. Won't be watching it again. -

Registered 17 years agoIt was pretty bad but there was a scene in episode 2 where they went to a bar and some girl in the background had this amazing arse.
Joeys "can't hold onto the past" speech was puke-worthy. -
I thought the producers were trying to squeeze the audience for every last bit of goodwill towards "Joey". Desperate, sad and cringeworthy show.
And as others have said - play some games ! Don`t waste time watching this crap.
BTW Canned laughter FFS : (
At least Friends had a real audience that proved SOMEONE found it funny. -

Registered 20 years agoWell I've seen all of them shown so far and I must admit to enjoying it, it started off a bit shakily but as soon as they writers got a feel for the characters it works pretty well.
The Valentines episode was pretty good, Joey desperately trying to get rid of someone without being too obvious was excellent. The running gag of trying to work out how old his "date" actaully was, was also good. -
