So... they finally announced Persona 5. Coming next Winter for the PS3.

    Official Site: http://persona5.jp/
    Teaser Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mZssK05WYo

Pity it's probably going to be mid-2015 before it comes out either here or in the US, but at least it isn't on a handheld.

@Aretak Whaaat? I though P4G suited the handheld, I'm glad it made it on a system I own but I'd rather it made it on Vita/3Ds.

3DS would have been too much for US and Europe gamers to take (especially Europe). PS4 and Vita install base hasn't been established anywhere. The PS3 was the only real place it could go unless they wanted it to go on PS2...

It sounds too good to be true.

@Daniel_Spencer Why would anybody want PS3 owners excluded from getting a Persona game? The series established itself on the Playstation consoles, it's not like the Vita isn't going to get a port eventually if a console game is so objectionable.

Considering that the 3DS is region locked, it's the worst choice platform for any game you want to see in Europe.

I never did finish P4 (I got to the Vita exclusive dungeon for that new girl), seems like a good time to correct that.

I assume the persona games are like the Final Fantasy games where the sequels don't directly follow on from each other.

1 and 2 have story connections.
3 and 4 are pretty stand alone except for some easter eggs.

    Excited that they're making it.

Saddened that it'll take another year and a half to reach us.

Haha yeah I will be severly disappointed if it is. I'm talking "buy a US console just for it" disappointed!

Well I'd like to think Atlus learned from the shit storm that was locking down Persona 4 Arena.
Then again, that was only because it was an online competitive game apparently, so they'd have a hard time justifying locking down P5.

Imagine the Vita release will be the best version (as P3P and P4 Golden were (edit: IMO of course!)) but think it'll be a bit of a wait for them!

Me? I'll get both and play them numerous times :D

The whole city frozen in time reminds me of the midnight hour in Persona 3.
Delighted this is coming to PS4 as Persona is probably my favourite JRPG series.

Hopefully since ATLUS has been bought by Sega we can see a release date on par with the US one. Also glad to see Shoji Meguro is still on Soundtrack duties as well.

Yes :D Ps4 version is excellent news. City frozen in time? Can't watch or read the article atm at work but that sounds interesting.

    :-(

PS3 version delayed, at the same time a PS4 version is announced. That seems to add up as Atlus wanting to release on both platforms on the same day, has the PS3 version been held back to give them time to port the game over to the PS4? The PS4 version has got to be ported from somewhere and porting unfinished games is problematic if you're still changing things in the final months.

The issue is time, the further back the release goes, the further back the Western slips and the more risk that the PS3 version ends up as a shitty digital release or something.

I've snuck a peek at that trailer with no sound. That's definitely the blue persona aura/flame thing... Hoping for an awakening scene on par with 3 and 4. Nothing quite like the goosebumps of the first time the protagonist utters per...so...na.

Is that the protagonist? A playable character? The bad guy?

I like that it has the big city setting.

It's really not bad at all works well in my experience. PLaying Resogun and Contrast on the Vita was a bit of a revleation at the start.

Some inputs are a bit shit, the lack of L/R2 for instance, but can be remapped I think.

I tend to just play Vita games on the Vita and save the PS4 ones for the big screen. Loved P4G on Vita though, so this should be fine I'm sure.

What did they just announce about this?

Coming out in the west simultaneous to Japan, but no actual date? Am I understanding that correctly?
