Built a Lunchbox last year, it’s quality.
Tempted to pickup up an RC car for the kid (and me) but short of Tamiya I don't trust any Amazon brands not to be shit. -

Registered 17 years ago@richardiox Having dabbled a lot in my youth and a little bit in the last few years I would agree about the brand thing, I'm secretly hoping my youngest really enjoys a Hornet (because that's what I'm gonna get him in a year or so) so that I can relive my youth and get one myself. Kyosho are a well renowned brand and similar to Tamiya with the same spares availabilty etc. -

Registered 16 years agoI enjoyed building the lunchbox and keep meaning to get another kit for this summer. Its like building lego but the end result isnt completely worthless.
There are better RC cars for the same money out there but they are all RTR and the fun really is in the putting it together for me. -

Registered 17 years agoI'm looking for sometime more in the £50-£75 range that I don't have to build myself. Did research a Hornet / Grasshopper etc to remove my youth but can't justified the extra cost at the moment.
Edit something's like this

Cheers that looks good
We've got a BMX dirt track in the woods round the corner so need something with big tyres but will look into that brand -

Registered 16 years agoThey do a stadium version of that with chunky tyres, too. They do a few models and people really seem to dig them.
Parts are all over ebay, which is good because they are very launchable. -

You can get fast chargers but then in my youth I amassed about 5 batteries so just took the lot out for a session, which is what I'd do now.

The one in the lunchbox is mahoosive and lasts for about 45 minutes. Last summer I was taking it out for walks like a dog. -

Registered 9 years agoThe hedben household has collectively decided this evening to get the eldest daughter (13) her own Kindle e-reader in the sale. And this has reminded me how godawful and confusing Amazon can be when it comes to setting up kids and teens on their own devices.
Apparently she can have her own "teen" Amazon account connected to ours... but she can't link it to a Kindle. Seems like we have to either link her Kindle to the main family Amazon account, or lie about her age. Thanks Amazon for not supporting this entirely uncontroversial use-case! -

Registered 9 years ago@Dougs not based on the research I've done. Teens can have a special Teen account that allows them to shop and be registered for Prime, because heaven forbid they can't fund Bezos' trip to Mars. But they can't be the primary account on a Kindle and have their own Kindle library apparently -

Registered 18 years ago@hedben2013 gotcha. That doesn't make any sense.
Also looks like you can't share content to Teen accounts. Only between child and adult accounts. Weird.

That bit at least kinda makes sense. It's an "all or nothing" with Family Share I think? Definitely wouldn't want your kids reading your Lovecraftian Tentacle Porn fanfics, etc. etc.

Registered 18 years ago@Phattso sure you can set it up so you only share what you want - like my son doesn't have access to all my library (of pulpy crime fiction) on his Kids Kindle, only what I actively share with him. I think... -

Entry level aa it was a spur of the moment purchase. I considered going nuts deep and getting one with lasers and voice controls but my place is 95% wood floors and with the exception of my bedroom fairly clutter free.

I ended up going for this

But also considered the Eufy Boost IQ 30C.
