I think it's dying, which is a shame. Tosh 28" Picture Frame and it'll cut out after 2 mins....which I think is a system feature should something fail. One time out of 20 you'll get a picture pop up and it'll run for 5 mins then cut itself out again. Tried isolating the power and unplugged everything else. I think she's about 4 years old now....so need to check the warranty. Which'll be out. So....recommendations? I don't think the budget will stretch into K's which rules out the plasma telly I always wanted. Only requires a single SCART RGB and component input for the DVD. Sound isn't an issue as it'll be fed to a seperate amp; just needs red/white audio out from the set to route to the amp. I dunno. 28" or below. Nothing that's got an arse like J-Lo. Any thoughts, recommendations for a standard CRT telly.... /has to rush back to V-Day commitments. |
Me telly's on it's arse.

Registered 20 years agoWidescreen, I take it? I would've recommended a tosh as they seem quite cheap and pretty well put together, but not I see why they're cheap. Four years? Eeep!
Got a JVC myself. Quite happy with it except for the fact I saw it for sale everywhere for about 200 quid cheaper the week after I bought it. Eeep!
It's got surround sound built in which turned out to be completely pointless as it's only Prologic I, but I guess you'll know about all that stuff before you buy. I didn't. Eeep! -

It has progressive scan and everything. Just do a mod/soft-mod on your xbox and you're set!
edit: oh and hdtv 1080i if I can believe the website. You'd eb set for the xbox 2 as well!

Edit: that JVC looks OK but although it accepts HDTV in, it doesn't seem to output in anything approaching an HDTV signal.
What do you mean? I haven't actually seen the tv in action, so I don't know how it works.
(not that I have money at the moment anyway. But I was hoping to buy it myself to use with my modded xbox. Should I wait for the european hdtv's mentioned in the other thread?) -

Well, that's quite a big but. And Nemesis specifically said...

Registered 19 years agoI'd vote with the 'get it fixed' camp. Had a Sony telly doing the same thing a few years back - it's just a capacitor or something that's gone dodgy, easily fixed (by an expert). It's worth keeping if you're happy with it otherwise. -

I'm seeing this more and more. Just because Something can accept a signal or type of cable, doesn't mean it can output in that same signal (plasma is a good example here - a lot have component/HDTV inputs but don't output at HDTV resolutions). I'd say wait on before deciding.
I was almost duped by clever marketing. Thanks!
