Back in July (in response to this article: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-02-wiird-channels) I said that I'd captured some screenshots of the Everybody Votes Channel before it closed down.

I've finally got around to putting them on my blog! Enjoy!

In a weird way there's something a bit sad about this being shut down, even though I got rid of my Wii years ago.

Does make you wonder how much, if anything, will still work on the incoming generation of online-obsessed consoles when we dig them out of the loft in 20 years' time.

I meant to take screenshots of the news and weather channels as well, but didn't get around to it.

The only thing we can hope is that whenever companies close down, they somehow release any DRM locks that they have - but that won't solve the problems of formats being locked down anyway.

I think Everybody Votes and its contemporaries from Nintendo, right through to Miiverse today, sum up why folk are wrong when they say Nintendo "can't do online" or whatever.

These are inclusive, special online experiences that, just because they aren't another fucking lobby for another team death match, get dismissed by folk, and it's a real shame.
