    How could you not figure out what it does? Did you not press a button?

    It removes and adds terrain. Vital for making use of crashed freighters.

    1.34 is up and I noticed this in the patch notes:

    "Altered teleporters in space stations to allow players to teleport directly to other stations as well as to their base"

    I wonder if they've sorted out the custom names as well.

    Still looking for a suitable system to build a base!

    My recommendation would be to pick a planet with the least sentinel activity. Otherwise it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. You can teleport for free (doesn't use hyperfuel I think) with the current update. It seems unlikely you'd find all the resources you need anyway within the system.

    I finally built the warp reactor tau. So far my only niggles with the game are grinding for resources (1000 fungi, really!) and some weird UI decisions. UI; like why can't I see on the galaxy map any details of the planets I've explored? Why can't I access the galaxy map if the ship is landed? Why can't I mass upload all my discoveries? Why can't I target specific ships? Why can't I tell the faction of ships? Why can't I transfer from my exocraft to my suit inventory? I feel like NMS is the Dwarf Fortress of space games, except of course the Dwarf fortress of space games is Eve. (:

    Not being able to access the space map outside of being in the ship in space is so moronic.

    Hopefully they will have a specialist station (not Base station but like the save station) that gives access to the galaxy map. Would make sense to add it in.

    @mrharvest

    I abandoned NMS after half a dozen hours so I might be missing some understanding but it seems like NMS is the anti-DF; that game is often wilfully obscure, of course, but it's logical, open and rewarding. NMS seems more like all those shitty DF clones that think DF-like means a shit UI and overly complex, nominally interlocking systems.

    DF is the gaming equivalent of running your own business, NMS is the gaming equivalent of stacking shelves in a vaguely pretty supermarket.

    My main UI annoyance is that stuff in your suit cargo doesn't automatically go there and has to be manually added to it.
    I think the suit cargo function is entirely broken in my copy of the game. I have 0 slots and I can't upgrade it - it eats the money but doesn't give me any slots.

    @Jeepers
    Yeah, I hear you. NMS certainly isn't as deep as DF, I think any game would struggle to be due to the very nature of DF. I just meant the analogy in this case that it's my personal experience of DF has been that there's always something broken with the UI, which might get 'fixed' years later to a more interestingly broken state. *cough*militarytraining*cough*

    Oh gotcha! Yup, the DF UI has always been a rat's arse :)

    Well I've found a nice grass planet that just had the odd storm so that's good. Scanned for a base, claimed it, done the scientist quest line (circuit boards at last) and have blueprints for all kinds of shit now. Felt bad for the korvax scientist quests :(

    Anyway going to concentrate on building the base up a bit and start looking into all this new shit I can create. It's gotta be better than just building warp cells and searching.

    It's even nice landing back at my base now. Feels like home :)

    I've not had any luck with my original save on survival regarding artemis quest line. I went through a blackhole at some point and don't have a save anywhere near where I picked up the questline and I'm now 11 million lightyears away from the mission goal. Hoped it would have given another point to go to like atlas but no.

    Backed the save up and started again. Bah!

    I'm having this weird issue where if I select the station in my Base's system I end teleporting to the base...even if I'm coming FROM the base:)

    I get that. I have to select a base in another system

    I have three entries of my home system in the teleport list. There's one that's labelled "base" and two that are labelled "station", but only one of the station ones actually takes me to the station.

    Yeah from your base you need to select a different system. Then, at the space station when you want to come back, it'll list your system, and then your base separately in that system.

    Don't ask.

    This could be due to the new patch, I think I read somewhere you can also use teleporter in space station to jump to any previous teleporter used with 4 being the maximum being saved.

    Could be wrong though.

    I think I finished the Apollo storyline, 60 hours in got the quest to go to the centre. Bugs and terrible framerate and all, I'm really enjoying this.

    And I think I figured out why I like it so much. When I was a kid I had this book of space illustrations, similar style to John Harris, Chris Foss or John Berkey. You know those super colourful, vibrant, fantastical pictures of strange planets and space ships? It must have come out early 80s, maybe 30 pages A4 size with hard covers. Can't remember the title or the artist(s) but I loved that thing as a kid. For me NMS is just like marvelling at those pictures when I was 6-7 years old.
