    @robthehermit

Yeah, the last one is always a pain to get but I find if you leave the planet and go back to it after visiting other places, it should turn up.

I would definitely finish off the extreme environment up to 10 before leaving though. I think it resets after you leave.

I've been playing for a while now, but i love learning new things not necessary 'spoilers', so i'm looking for some informative youtuber or twitch streamer who solely plays No Man's Sky, i haven't found one with a quick search they all seem temporary streamers i'm looking for something to watch while i hit the bed and learn something about the game

I bought more memory for my potato. Just waiting for memory check to complete and then I'll try if I can play this again.
    Edit:
Pros - I can now launch the game
Cons - It runs at 15fps, with frequent crazy slowdown to 5fps. Eh. It used to run fine but it was the patch before Next that killed the game for my craptop.

Heh. What are some tips for a noob such as myself? Only on my second planet learning to mine for copper. Keep running out of charge for my tools, which feels a bit of a slog.

Jesus. Is that on PS4?! I'm on a fairly decent PC and it looks and plays like total garbage.

It's the xbox One version, so far has been remarkably stable!

Permadeath Mode is a bit tense at the start.

@askew In the early stages, don't hoard any materials you don't need, the money is more important.

Use Navigation Data to search for secure frequencies - manufacturing facilities will give you blueprints and supply depots will give you a good amount of expensive (at this stage of the game) commodities.

Also, it will probably be quicker and easier to buy a new ship than to build a hyperdrive. If you scan distress frequencies, and you're lucky you can find quite expensive ships dotted about. I found an A class hauler worth 17m (5.5m trade in value) on my second attempt. You don't need to repair it, just add it to your collection. Not sure if you need to change system or just save and reload (make sure you switch back to your old ship first), but after you've flown your old ship back to a trading post you can then summon your knackered ship to your location and trade it against a ship that actually works. (down on the d-pad, across to summon ship and the "summon other ship" is on the far right).

Is there anyone vaguely near galactic centre in permadeath mode whose game I can jump into later and save myself another 85 warps/Black holes?

    Edit:

    On Xbone.

The latest update has improved this yet again!

Hunting for space-dinosaur bones? You got it.

Put fucking hours into it again last night. Rejuvenated.

Yeah a vr mode would be absolutely fantastic but possibly vomit inducing with all the jetpacking about. Had a quick go the other day with the new update but didn't spend enough time to see any new stuff.

It's great it's still getting all these add-ons. Probably spent over 500 hours over 3-4 saves

I don't know about anyone else but since Next I've found the constant delay of detail pop-in to be so distracting that it spoils the game for me. I can't help but think being able to turn off the tessellation would help a fair bit as it isn't even turned on in the PC version.

Wow - really? I feel slightly burned by the PS4 original, but then I've not played the last few updates, so it might be a much better game..?

I enjoyed playing through the story and reaching the centre of the galaxy, but I'm not into base building so stopped playing it. If they added more story I'd happily dive in again.

    Yay or nay?

I enjoyed it - and that was before the last two major updates - but it is sandbox with a mild story to it. Would have preferred a little more in the way of ground combat though.

If you like survival and want a story, The Long Dark is very good. Although some of the dialogues can go on a bit.

    Shut up grandma.

To be honest I would say it's worth it. The amount of work that has gone in to this over the past few years is incredible and - although I haven't played with the new patch - even in it's infancy I got a lot of enjoyment from it and would have recommended it for that price a year or so ago, let alone now.

Yeah definitely worth it at that price.

Currently downloading the patch but I had a go with the Vulcan beta over the past days, and performance improvements on my laptop have been pretty substantial. I can actually play this now at reasonable graphics settings and not the chugging pixelated mess I had to put up with in the past.

It's also a good game to just dip in and out of, so I'd say go for it.

Was really hyped about PSVR, but itís a blurry mess on the Pro.

Had to put on Astro Bot to remind myself that PSVR can look less blurry.

Also, it started getting choppy and then crashed.

Looks fucking amazing on the rift when my PC can keep up. The sense of scale in space is spot on but there are some weird bugs like having massive hulk hands in some cockpits.

Going to wait for a few patches as I can see myself sinking hours into this when it's fixed.
