Has anyone else got the superb NBA 2K14 for the PS4 and having problems with the audio glitching out (cutting out completely or switching to a bizarre 'popping' noise) when using DTS or DD 5.1 surround sound via optical out? I've found that the only way to have working audio to switch to Linear PCM but then I lose the surround sound as my Sony amp detects it as stereo only audio. I can temporarily fix it by going to Settings while the game is running and switching to another audio format and back but the bug returns. Only using LPCM fixes it at the moment. I cannot believe that this issue has not been patched yet.

This is the only PS4 game that has this issue and I've since found a forum with others reporting the same issue so it isn't a hardware fault.

I have the superb NBA2K14, but no sound problems.

Have the same problem with Knack when the PS4 is set to DTS with my Logitech Z5500. The problem can only be fixed if I switch to Dolby. Hopefully this will be patched cause I want to use DTS!!

I wish Sony and/or 2K would hurry up and fix this damn bug. It's annoying to have to keep going to Audio Output while playing to use the workaround to get sound back. It's such a great game as well that this stupid glich really does mar the experience for me.

Can't find an OT for this, but yes, it's awesome. However, I fucking suck at it. No matter what I do I get graded F in myCareer. It's so hard. Bah!

Score rockets down for the simplest of things. This is my first BBall game since NBA Jam, maybr I need to properly learn all the rules, but so far it feels very unfair to new players.

Have you stuck it on rookie yet?

First half dozen games in mycareer are a bit brutal minutes wise but they'll come, along with unlocks to add perks that up your games.

However don't make the mistake I did and buy any of the virtual coins thinking it'll help your guy's stats.
Had a few pounds left in my PSN wallet and bought 15,000 of them and then found out you can't buff your player stats at all, these points/coins are just for buying stuff like clothing etc for your guy.

Was a bit peeved when I found this out, I understand they would want to stop people from 99ing their player for online but it wasn't made clear at all!

same issue with my dts. 5.1 For a moment i considered the cable but this is the only game it happens to.

It sounds like a bitrate mismatch. I get similar popping and stuttering if my laptop audio interface bitrate is off. Possibly the game supporting too limited a range of audio outputs?

How good is the game, as i am not a huge basketball fan, don't watch the sport, but don't mind the games, haven't brought one since megadrive days. Any recommendations? Fun to play? is there a season mode?

Mycareer mode is brilliant, cheesy storyline between each game with rpg tendencies improving your player. And most importantly it plays a brilliant game, my favourite next gen game currently out.

Used to be a huge bball fan but went off the boil because of my love of football but this has forced me back unto it. Very simulation like and not very arcadey at all though it that turns you off.

I love simulation games. Really thinking of getting it. Liked the look of the play. Hmmm on the fence. Do you need a online key as I am going to buy second hand. Or is it good to go online.

No online key needed, just PS+ if you're going online. Only played the single played career mode myself so can't comment on it sorry.

There is also a manager mode I haven't tried if that is of interest.

@don81 fantastic, there is a bit of a learning curve as it can get a bit fiddly with the bumpers but it's one of those easy to play hard to master deals.

I'd also recommend if you play Mycareer to start on easy at first as your guy will be proper shit which was a bit frustrating (lots of mispassing, missing layups etc) until I poured some stats into him.

I was playing this earlier following the latest v1.04 patch update but I had the audio cut out while playing. Are they ever going to fix this damn bug?!?!?

Iv been playing 2 player games on NBA 2K14 and sometimes the audio stutters (cuts off for less than a second and then comes back on). All the other games are working fine its just this one.

Still not fixed with the latest v1.60 firmware, not that I expected it to be as I believe this is a game bug that only the developers can address. However, despite submitting the bug to Take-Two three days ago I've yet to receive any kind of response or acknowledgement that they are looking at it. But then the game has been out almost three months now and it has had four patches so I honestly do not think they're every going to fix it.

I wonder if complaining to Sony will achieve anything?

I love this game on the court, but :

1) I've already had the playoff bug in GM mode where I couldn't proceed any further after sweeping a team in the early round.

2) after the new patch, I've finally been able to play again. Carried on the playoffs, beating the Heat in 2 games to go 2-0 in the conference finals. Loaded it back up again to play game 3, only to find it has reversed the score of Game 2 and now it's 1-1....SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE FUCKING HELL IS THIS CRAP.

Getting traded.

I managed to get to the finals, only to play New Orleans Pelicans, who didn't even actually make the playoffs in the season.

It's basically Franchise/Player manager mode the same as every other sports game has.

I would recommend it if you enjoy playing basketball games, as on the court it's pretty much faultless.

The menu's however, have been designed by a 5 year old and tested by their own faeces.

The menus might not be perfect but they're a massive improvement on the ones I had to endure in the PC versions of the game over the past few years.

Bought this yesterday and notice the sound dropouts via HDMI too (albeit for about 5 seconds then the amp resets the audio) but seems to be a common problem for 5.1 via optical or HDMI. It is rather annoying I must admit! Game is bloody hard too I'm going to put a few hours into this over the weekend!
