..has been announced for PS3: Tales of Zesteria announced

It's turning into quite an Indian Summer for PS3 RPGs: Xillia 2, Persona 5, Lightning Returns and now this! Not forgetting the remakes of Tales Of Symphonia, FFX and Kingdom Hearts 2...

Niceeeeeeeee, more Tales and Persona 5 will keep my PS3 out for a long time yet. (plus the sizable backlog)

Haha yeah that's my thought - playing Symphonia now to get it done as far away from Xillia 2 as possible, which then will hopefully give me some time before this!

I wouldn't worry, Zestiria won't be out until next year in Japan anyway.

Yeah, I still need to play Symphonia Chronicles and then Milla's side of Xillia before August. Then we're getting Hearts R too.

Heh, I was actually thinking that when I pre-ordered it this evening. You never know, they may announce something closer to release. Although I saw on the PS Blog they were being a bit cagey about whether or not it'd receive a physical release.

Speaking of which, (and in the grand tradition of Tales of threads that start off about one game and quickly end up being discussions on the entire series...), the Xillia 2 collectors edition is up for pre-order on Amazon.

Nice, Xillia's only real fault was the fields were very bland

I didn't mind them so much - probably because they were mostly a bit better than the field corridors in Graces. At least Xillia's were packed with materials.

But yes, more open, hopefully more populated fields for Zestiria please Bamco.

Some battle footage in here. Humans and Family of Heaven characters can apparently fuse together to form a new being with more powerful attacks. Animation looks really really nice in battle.

Some of the art looks way different to the past games, especially Zabida. Can't wait for this. Even though I know it won't be here for a good while yet.

Some field traversal/on-field battling. Zestiria looks to be shaking the formula up quite a bit. Though I could do without the cuts into and out of battle, especially the results screen - just have that information up on screen for a few seconds, perhaps?

Soooo... Anyone bought/imported this? I'll be waiting for the EU release, but am interested in hearing any (spoiler-free) impressions. I had a brief look on GAF, but threads there move a bit too fast to dip in and out.

Also, the first part of the OVA has been fansubbed and is on Youtube. I did watch it, but I don't think I'll watch the other parts when they go up - I'll wait until I've played the game.

I would have but they didn't release it digitally, so I'm waiting til April as that's when I next have a friend coming here from Japan. It's currently getting absolutely trashed on Amazon because of some story stuff. That seems to be more on how they handled prerelease stuff so it doesn't seem that egregious in reality.

The main complaints aside from that are a dodgy framerate at times and the combat camera being actively unhelpful some of the time - getting pinned to walls, letting enemies block your view, that sort of stuff.

I remember seeing some comments online around the time Rose was revealed about some kind of heroine switcheroo - wonder if it's anything to do with that..?

Actually, I don't think I want to know too much before I play it! I had seen some complaints about the camera on GAF, I can imagine that getting frustrating if you get locked in a huge combo because of it - and seeing as the battle system is by the Graces team, I'm imagining that happening a lot...

I'd be interested to hear your impressions when you do get it, uiruki.

Sure - I'm interested in how it compares to Shining Resonance, which does a similar thing with the open field battles.

Hopefully it'll be available at a nice discount by the time I get it too, which will ease the sting of the inevitable PS4 version announcement.

Some story DLC has been announced, 1300 yen. I think I'll hold off until it is really cheap or the PS4 version comes out.

Do you think it's likely we'll see a PS4 version? I'd also hang on for that, but I don't know how likely it is given Hideo Baba's comments a few months back.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was a PS4 version, for the West of not for Japan. What did Baba say exactly?
