| I can't remember off the top of my head, but it was along the lines of them having no current plans to develop on PS4. I suppose they could use a Zestiria port as a way of becoming familiar with the hardware though, if the budget is there. |

This one's really going to mess with my setup. I need more space...
Or maybe I just need to get out more

Registered 18 years agoMy copy should be coming this week - got a mate to pick it up cheap while he was in Japan on holiday. Travelling around a fair bit this week so we'll see if I get any time on it! I'm tempted to blast through so I can clear away my PS3 to make way for a new monitor... -

Registered 12 years agoLooking forward to your impressions uiruki! I hope we hear about the Western release soon, they've been awfully quiet. I was expecting it would release this August, but they seem to be leaving it rather late for an announcement. Perhaps they're waiting for E3 to announce it for PS4
Here's an out of the box pic. -

Registered 12 years agoLooks a little bit PS2 to me in places, though I know it's doing a bit more than your average Tales of game, with it being set in a far more open world, for instance. Dub sounds a bit budget too.
Still looking forward to it though! I should really go back to Xillia 2 and catch up. -

Registered 18 years agoHad a quick go of this last night, played up to the late title card (so an hour or so?). Impressions so far are positive; the thing that people got angry about is pretty much telegraphed from the characters' first meeting. I like the idea behind the battles (very fast transition into and out of battle) but it all feels a little muddy at 30fps and the game is really slow at giving you moved on the X button so you're mashing Circle.
The new CC replacement is weird - it's a stamina bar which replenishes gradually as you don't attack. It means you can mash longer without a pause, and there are no TP to worry about, though you can start a fight with less than 100%. There are a bunch of skills which you can activate that affect the whole battle system which lead me to believe that it might be balanced more towards new players; you can set it so you automatically evade attacks at a cost of halving your Grade score, for example. The AP needed for these are obtained from discoveries in the world, mostly stone obelisks with battle system tips on them.
I like it so far. There's less loading than usual, the graphics are kind of OK (I would find it hard to disagree if you wanted to say that it's the worst looking PS3 Tales though - everything is jaggy and muddy, with particularly ugly filtering on the ground) and the battles are fairly fun. I'm looking forward to it opening up a bit and some more characters joining, as well as having more than one special attack. -

Registered 12 years agoOops, sorry uiruki, completely missed your impressions. Are you still enjoying it? I don't know why they have to keep messing around with CC/TP implementations, but at least there aren't two systems working against each other in this one (by the sounds of it?).
A PS4 port is looking more likely, so hopefully that'll iron out some of the performance/IQ issues. We'll find out soon enough. -

Registered 16 years agoI wonder if we'll get a localised PS3 version of Berseria, I think the PS3 stock is going to start disappearing from shelves in the January sales next year, new releases will be drying up not long after.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Tales of Xillia, it's not a fantastic game by any means but the guy who usually makes decisions on the characters must have been locked in a cupboard when they finalised the party. No compulsion to self harm at all, Jude is relatable and doesn't annoy in the slightest. Xillia has revived my interest at least. -

Registered 12 years agoI don't think we will - aren't software sales already quite low? It'll likely be at least couple of years before we see Berseria, the PS3 will be effectively dead here by then. Even if they announce a PS4 version for Zestiria, I'm sure we'll get a PS3 version of that. Hopefully we'll get a date for it at E3. My money's on an August release.
Yeah, I quite like the cast of Xillia. Far better than Graces' cast, that's for sure. -

Registered 15 years agoOne of my local Game stores seems to have got rid of the new game sections for both PS3 and 360 so you could be right. It would be nice to be proved wrong though as there is still nothing to convince me to buy a PS4 (or Xbox One). It is scary how well the PS4 is selling for a system with next to nothing in decent exclusives. Seeing multiformat titles like Dragon Quest Heroes becoming PS4 only in the west doesn't bode well either.

Registered 12 years agoAs I understand it, Sony have been actively pursuing devs to get content on the PS4 in Japan to try and work up a decent install base there. That's fine by me, so long as stuff gets localised, as I'd like some software to play on the bloody thing! If only they'd adopted the same strategy for the Vita in the West.

Registered 16 years agoSadly the PS4 is turning out to be a colossal dud in terms of interesting games, it even looks bad compared to the PS3's absolutely disastrous post launch years.
At least I had Folklore, Valkyria Chronicles and Siren to provide some justification for owning a PS3. I feel no need to own a PS4, I doubt E3 is going to change that. -

Bandai Namco Games are releasing Godzilla on PS4 alongside with PS3 next month. However, they've recently announced the western release of the new Sword Art Online game, which will come out this fall just on PS4 and Vita, but not on PS3. Which is odd, as there's already a PS3 version available in the east.
I wonder if we'll get a localised PS3 version of Berseria, I think the PS3 stock is going to start disappearing from shelves in the January sales next year, new releases will be drying up not long after.
So maybe it's a sign that Bandai won't even release Zestiria on PS3 in the west? Probably not as it isn't on Vita, like Sword Art Online is, but still a weird omission.
EDIT: I actually forgot that Zestiria is already been confirmed for a western release this fall. So maybe it's just the case of Sword Art Online that they just not bothered to release a PS3 version in the west.
