So after more than a decade of resisting it (there's not really a reason, it just didn't get my attention that much), I'm finally getting one. I've already played some games in a borrowed console or in the HD collections for the PS3. I've played the God of War games, the Team ICO games, Final Fantasy X, Ratchet and Clank trilogy and the two MGS games (gigantic MGS fan who never bought the original versions!).

I have some on my list. FF XII, Silent Hill 2/3 and DMC3 are really on the "to buy ASAP" list. Which ones should I add?

First: Gran Turismo 4, Gradius V, Tekken 5, Soul Calibur 2/3. Colin McRae 04/05. GTA 3/Vice City/San Andreas.

Second: Mortal Kombat: Deception, Manhunt, TOCA 3. R-Type Final.

Might edit later to add more that I forgot.

You didn't mention what those mgs games were so I wanna be clear : mgs 2:sons of liberty is a must-have-played even for those who aren't gamers.'

These are the rest of the games you're missing :
    Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

    Need for Speed: Underground 2

Silent Hill 4: The Room (How could you have played SH 2&3 and missed 4 ?)

Black (one of the best shooters in the 6th gen which received unfairly mean reactions from critics)

    Bully ( old school )

Fahrenheit (I vividly remember the night I bought my PS2, and Fahrenheit with it, and how Fahrenheit blew my head off that night- just listen to the opening music)

Resident Evil 4 (but I guess you've already played it even though you didn't mention)

    Burnout Revenge

    Fatal Frame

    Final Fantasy 12

Plus everything the dudes above mentioned.

Secret Weapons Over Normandy a gem of a game that went unnoticed.

Extermination was an excellent and underrated gem, I remember playing it as a 13 year old having become a huge Resi fan and extermination was way ahead of its time in some aspects. (You could walk and shoot!!) plus it had stuff like the torch on the gun which is in every game ever made these days.

I'd recommend Medal of Honour: Frontline for the iconic beach landing level. It was also the last great MOH game made in my opinion.

I also adored Fahrenheit, but it's a bit of a Marmite game.

Great choice TimeSplitters Future Perfect is right up there.

My PS2 looks pretty decent on my 50" HDTV, running through component cables.

Thank you everybody! Some of those I have already played, such as RE4 (I have a Gamecube and an Xbox, so, chances are, multiplat games I have not much else to play), Okami, Soul Calibur 2, etc. Never got into Timesplitters. Hell, I didn't even remember it existed!

What about Onimusha? Always wanted to play it, it looked great (not sure which one of the trilogy I'm referring to, though).

[link=">Gradius V is a natural, but I like the PS2 more for it's exclusive oddities - games like Bombastic, which is so niche the localisation team couldn't be bothered to translate the last level of Story mode, so it just switches to Japanese when you get there, or Frequency, the debut from the original Guitar Hero devs is worth checking out and still my favourite from that dev, as is

Tried Rez on XBLA years ago. Loved it but never bought it. Isn't the PS2 version kind of rare?

Frequency is tempting too. I'm a big Harmonix fan until they drowned themselves in Kinect dance titles. Absolutely love GH and all of the Rock Band games.
