All they need to do is change the theme music!
If saving this series means it kills the theme music or spawns a new series then I'm all for it! |

Registered 20 years agoIsn't BG getting better ratings than Enterprise? Amazing considering that's on a cable station and ST:E is on network television.
Season 4 has been a big improvement on previous seasons but it was inevitable it was going to get canned and there's not much chance the fans are going to get anywhere. -
I emailed Tim, on the contacts page of the site and politely explained about the theme music and lack of representation of Russia in the title sequence about 5 mins ago.... -

I don't think Theme music and the presence of Russia in the title sequence is going to make the 45 minutes after it better. -

See if that did happen, I'd watch. Until then it's better off dead. -
I think it's had the same people at the helm (ba-dum tish) for too long. I'd certainly love to see JMS take a stab at the franchise.
As for the "Kill Trek! Make decent sci-fi!" crowd... I fail to see how cancelling a sci-fi series is ever good. Studio execs tend to see it as a sci-fi series getting cancelled, so are less likely to invest in another.

...exactly, and the whole point is that the execs are either missing or chossing not to see the point that it is not the genre that is at fault, but the content and the way it is presented. IMO Enterprise was positioned as preachy, overly moralistic (primary school level!) pseudo-religious and great because it is American. I just wish they had not focused on the brand so much and directed abillities t'wards the content... -

I was only joking, you miserable buggers! :-D

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway. JMS has already pulled the idea of doing a Trek series. Seems he's got another gig. -
.... although to be honest, I'd rather see the Trek franchise vanish for a while now. If not forever. It's tired. -

But it's a sentiment I've seen plenty of around the 'net, your words just summed up that group well
The writing team is tired, certainly. The introduction of story arcs is VERY welcome in the latest season (apart fromt he recent Andorian story, which is just poorly written) and proves that it works very well in a series like this, and doesn't have to have a long storyline like B5; which put some people I know off that series completely since they might've only noticed B5 around season 3.
Take a break. Get fresh people in. Brainstorm. Trek at its best is some of the best sci-fi around. At its worst it's Voyager-style B-movie tat -
Maybe they need to do what The Wire does and start hiring genre writers to come in and do story and scripts to spice things up.
