I've begun downloading it and should be up for a few games in the next few nights... Anyone up for an EG team? |

Registered 16 years agoI was interested when I first heard about this but decided to pass because of how much DLC they were churning out. Since its gone F2P I've decided to give it a go and if the EG crew can get some games organised I'd be up for that
Is it the kind of game I'll have to dig out my mic for? -
So in order to complete a challenge I had to win a game as support. Some chance! Lost about 6 games in a row. So fun yet so frustrating and I think thats what is going to make or break the game, so the devs have a real job on their hands as constant frustration is a real deal breaker for a lot of people.
Bucket was my support hunter of choice, quite like him I have to say. -

Go search on YouTube. There are one or two detailed videos on it including by ign. Loads of gameplay changes as well.
If I play again we'll have to team up. -

They key allocation seems a bit tight when you take into account the cost of perks and of upgrading them. -

Registered 10 years agoI was playing it today in ps4, certainly seemed busier than the last time I tried, that or they have improved the matchmaking. Mostly it matches up the mode where it's you against the monster in the dome from the beginning. This did mean it played a lot quicker, personally I enjoy the thrill of the hunt as it were in the normal hunt mode although either type still works for me. -

Registered 16 years agoReally enjoying it so far, probably played about 20 games now. Had mostly decent teammates, won some matches as hunters and had some close losses.
Also had some proper noobs though, like a tracker who didn't use his planet scan ability throughout the whole match. Also just now my whole team were noobs, I was the tracker, the assault ran into the monster first and domed it before anyone was even close and he got killed pretty quick. Then in the same match a couple of mins later I scanned to find the monster and started running after it only to see my teammates were half-way across the map running in the opposite direction
Starting to learn the tricks of playing as the monster now, had a mini win streak going with Meteor Goliath earlier.

Registered 15 years agoI'll try to organise an EG game as soon as I get it installed...
If anyone's interested give a shout here along with which night would work best, rough times you're on, experience with the game and if you can use a mic...
I'm usually on quite late but I'm free most nights (although my second born is due any day now and will mess up the schedule for sure) and would prefer communication as I'd be an absolute noob... -

Registered 6 years agoI'm in and have a mic so ready to beg/whimper on demand. No particular day or time but 10pm should always be clear as had time to wash dishes etc. Failing that girlfriend tends to do stuff straight after work so 5-7 is often free.

Yeah, it's definitely satisfying hitting 3-4 hunters at once with a well aimed rock or charge
Only downside for me so far is I'm hitting so many keys so quickly I feel like I'm getting RSI D:
You gonna join us on PC Evolve mate or are you gonna stick to Xbox One?

I'm interested, any time is okay before midnight (possibly not tonight though, annoyingly). Steam name is Seigfreid (the one with the Hotel Dusk avatar. I'll have to go hunting for my microphone cable though, not sure where I put it.

Registered 16 years agoI'm 90% sure my PC will go "LOL You wish" and either not run it, or run so poorly it wouldn't be worth me dragging down a team, but you never know. I know they did put in some optimisations that let lower spec users drop the detail a bit so perhaps it will work, but my gut feeling says I'm stuck on Xbox One for now.
I'm glad people are giving it a go though. It deserved more love than it got, but it definitely had its issues long term like certain strategies being too effective. Hopefully these changes will be seen as positive in the long term and help it keep a decent player base.gif)

And I agree, I hope the gaming industry moves away from staggered, slow and excessive dlc releases after Battlefront and Evolve both suffered so badly for it. Microtransactions don't seem to be going anywhere though, unfortunately, Overwatch proves that. -

Registered 15 years agoAlright,
so I've set up a steam group called EGvolve to at least see at a quick glance which players are online at any given time...
I've sent an invite to Futaba. Sharz, what's your steam name?
If anyone else wants to join just hit me up here or in PM and I'll send over an invite...
If we get a few more members I'll try and set up a session... -

Update is imminent. Wraith and Bucket both getting nerfs (poor Bucket he is my support go to).
All founder members will get 27k silver keys. Nice!
My character glitched during a game earlier. Got locked in 3rd person view and the controls were reversed. I couldnt aim properly and it was pretty ruinous as the dome was up at the time :/ -

Starting to get to grips with the game a little now, as are all the other newer hunters I think, but there is still a long way to go.
I really like Bucket, when the dome goes up I dot 3 or 4 turrets quickly on any high points then join in afterwards with my rocket launcher and use my special to reset the other hunters cooldowns. Lots of fun.
Here's some 21:9 action. Low graphics settings so I can keep the frame rate above 60 at 3440x1440:

The wraith can just fuck off! Especially when they're being played by someone who has a lot more of a clue than the four bumbling fuckwit hunters...
We thought we were trapping it, but had clearly been led into a a murder zone >_ -

Dread being picked as the monster as I had a rough time just finishing its tutorial... -
@AcidSnake Sorry mate I didn't notice. When I get picked as the monster I just leave the room under the assumption my vacant place will get filled quite quickly. If that doesn't happen then I apologise lol.
It's rare though, as monster is no.5 on my list. -

Tips for monster play:
At the start of the round, bring up the mini-map and head to the most spread out area of the level. From there pick a route, start using the flamethrower ability on any wildlife you come across and hold E to eat it (you can just hold it down the whole time if two carcasses are next to each other). Flamethrower is best because it recharges quickly and you can use it while moving. When they use the planetary scanner on you for the first time, crawl with CTRL and then either do a 180 to change direction (as long as you won't be cornering yourself or heading back towards the hunters drop point) or crawl and then climb a ledge and jump far away into another direction. You should be jumping whenever possible, especially from cliffs and running down-hill as it gives you more distance. Constantly right click to use your smell ability, every few seconds both to find monsters (the bigger the better) to eat and to see if the hunters are catching up.
Get good at moving across terrain as quick as possible. If you see any ledges or climbable cliffs in front of you, jump towards them and hold the climb button instead of walking forwards (climbing is actually quicker than walking). The other advantage to this is you can get a lot more distance on your jumps when you jump from the top of a cliff compared to the ground. Just be careful not to be spotted if the hunters are still looking for you. Also the charge ability is extremely useful for many non-combat reasons: it helps you move foward much faster and it can shake off abilities the hunters have used on you (such as slowing grenades and harpoons). You should use it when running away from the hunters as well to quickly escape (plus it recharges much quickly when you are being shot).
When you're caught and domed, go for the medic as much as possible unless their support player is really good in which case try to kill them first. Charge ability is great for hitting multiple hunters at once but it's also amazing for seperating one of them from the rest of the group, leaving you an easy chance to beat them to a pulp away from the rest of the group for a few seconds. If your armour is broken during the fighting try to hide behind a cliff face to give it a few seconds to recharge and flamethrower or rock throw the hunters as they come around the corner. Try to save a charge attack for when the dome disappears as it's great for helping you escape. As soon as dome wears off, charge, then jump+climb the nearest cliff, then jump off again and try to create some distance by picking an unpredictable route while out of sight. You should be trying to reach a minimum of level 2 before you try to kill the hunters, preferably level 3 so avoid them as much as possible until that happens. Don't evolve when the hunters are close make sure you're at a safe distance. And careful of those damn birds, sneak by any if you see them or take a different route. When escaping after being domed, use the landscape as much as possible to stop yourself being shot whilst escaping, run around corners or jump over cliffs so they don't have a clear shot.
My monster win rate shot up as I learned these things, playing online matches helps a lot more than the tutorial. Good luck! -
@Pinky:
No worries
@Futaba:
Thanks!
I have too many questions at this point which I hope will be answered by playing some games...
When I see medics and supports they have beams going to the assault yet I see no such weapons when I'm medic or support...
Hope people can forgive noobs...
