For reasons not worth going into I'm trying to get a list together of Welsh bands and artists.

Off the top of my head I came up with:

    Stereophonics
    Manic Street Preachers
    Catatonia
    Tom Jones
    Goldie Lookin' Chain
    Shirley Bassey

Anyone able to add to my fledgling list? Literally anyone, old/new, good/bad will be much apprecicated.

    Super Furry Animals!

Better than the rest of that lot put together (with the possible exception of Shirley Bassey, naturally).

Oh yes, and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. They're ace, too.

You've missed the best band ever from Wales.

    Desecration.

The singer/guitarist is a even a mortician by trade. Lyrics from the heart, eh? ;)

Fucking BBC. I dunno, they seize a band's first album under the obscene publications act and they don't wanna give 'em no love. Fucking cunts.

Hmm, maybe we need a new thread that says "Welsh acts that need to be shot in the face".

We could line the Stereophonics up to save bullets. :)

Welsh eyh, well my favorite welshman is Arthur Machen, horror writer and general nutcase. I'd recommend The Great God Pan as a bit of strange victorian fiction(the illustrated version is great!).

When you say "artists" you mean anyone creative?

    Cos then there's loads.

    Max Boyce for example.

    Glad someone remembered the Alarm.

Dylan Thomas & RS Thomas - two of the greatest 20th C poets in the English language. Augustus John was a talented Taff. Um. Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen? /struggling
