Might as well see what the reviews of the new Sony ones are like.
I have Astro A50s. They're excellent but not cheap. They do work on all consoles though which is nice.
Can't say I personally notice much difference between 5.1 and 7.1, but then I'm not super duper hardcore FPS guys. I suspect some might claim 7.1 offers you greater positional awareness when being shot from behind etc. -

Registered 11 years agoSorry to slightly hijack this thread, but I've also been thinking of getting myself a headset. Is this new Playstation one likely to be worth the money or could I get a non Playstation branded one that's just as good but cheaper? And it said it'd work on PS4,3 Vita and PC so what's the likelihood of it working on 360 and/ or XB1 as well? -

Registered 10 years agoSo with the pulse elite will you not need to plug in the USB dongle at all with the new firmware update? I might buy the elite. -

Registered 10 years agoI'd have loved a set of A50's but couldn't stretch. Settled on the skullcandy plyr1 which are really good, wireless 7.1. Developed with help from Astro.

Can these also be used on One without chat? Would love to play Forza on Dolby Digital headphones. -

looks good but I am assuming this will only work with the ps4 via USB? might as well get a cheaper headset that does the same thing. seems you pay more for wireless.

Registered 10 years agoBeen doing abit of research and the a40 is looking good, I don't mind wired as long as it doesn't go through the dual shock4. A50 too much. The skullcandy player1 are looking good to. Those PX 4 look good to for the price but I don't want any headsets that go through the ps4 controller, it coverts all sound to 2 channel mono apparently.
Some good impressions on the new Sony wireless on GAF too. -

Registered 11 years agoAnyone got hands on experience with the Gold Wireless Headphones yet? More specifically, can you use them with Skype - via PC - and the PS4, at the same time?
Ideal set up would be, game sound from the PS4 (maybe connect to the DS4 via 3.5mm?) and then connected to the PC for Skype chat - presumably over the Bluetooth dongle? -

I'm not sure how easy they will be to pair with a pc. The 'wireless' part of the headphones is over a usb dongle and not bluetooth.

And anyway, getting your hands on one at the moment looks like it'll be quite tricky. Unless you want to pay import tax or a massive mark-up from ebay no one in the UK seems to be stocking yet. I've been keeping an eye on the amazon.co.uk page but no updates so far - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Official-Gold-Wireless-Headset/dp/B00HVBPRUO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2C14IXMLM83CA&coliid=I1OKZPKGJCX8DP -

Registered 10 years agoI've decided if i'm going to spend £80 on a headphones, I'd rather spend more for better ones that I plan on using for years.
Really want the skullcandy plyr1 but nearly every review and user feedback mentions that the mic is crap on it, too quiet and their friends are always telling them they cannot hear them.
Going to settle on the astro A40s -

You may have just spent some of my money! they look nice. Any reason to get the 40s over the 50s? (other than price)
