So the old man's 50th is coming up, and I thought a 50 year old whiskey would be a solid bet. Although there's no way I can afford a full bottle right now, I wondered if you could get gift minatures anywhere.

    Any ideas?

I've used www.thewhiskyexchange.com in the past and recommend them but I don't know what their miniature selection is like.

Good luck getting a 50 year old miniature though, possibly at that age the contents are a bit too prestigious to put in a tiny bottle. You could always get him two 15yo's and two 10s ;)

Thanks for the advice. I knew it was a long shot, but looks like 21 is as old as is probable. Still good, mind, just doesn't have the same sentiment.

There one here that you can get a sample, or one that was bottled in 64.

One thing to consider is a 50 year old whisky doesn't mean it was made 50 years ago, just that it was in the barrel 50 years. A 1950 whisky bottles in 2000 will always be a 50 year old whisky, unlike wines or port that go by the vintage. Port or cherry are always a good shout when you want a particular year, could try an Armagnac or cognac too.
