Just because you don't like it that's no justification to tell everyone else that they are wrong for enjoying the show. This isn't the Prometheus thread . :)
    I don't think I said that.

But after everything they've been through, wouldn't their attitudes towards each other have changed?
If it was still the same, people would complain that the characters hadn't moved on.

I thought tonight's episode was really funny. Lots of everyone being themselves.

episode 5 ... bah, my least favourite so far, for some reason ... still glad its back at a reasonable quality, but it seemed a bit tired and repetitive tonight.
at least its not pandering to 'fans' with Ace Rimmer, Duane Dibbly etc

and nobody would ever try to pick up a vending machine off the floor by lying on top of it ...

I like how Lister and Rimmer's relationship has grown into an actual friendship. They get on each other's tits but have been through a lot together

Main problem I had with it was that nothing happened. It's pretty obvious that Grant was the engine behind the characters and Naylor did the plots... and this one had no plot, and no Grant. It's nice that they tried to do something that was entirely character-based, but it didn't quite do enough to hold my interest this week. Still watchable though, but yeah, probably the weakest episode so far.

    I liked it :(

I actually really enjoy the ones where nothing really happens. I mean, surely 90% of their time would be filled with the boring and mundane! They make it fun though,

I've enjoyed them all so far. I still prefer the older series episodes more but these new ones have been fun.

Perhaps being 3 million years into the future has messed with their maturity.

I think the issue is more that we're older. I was a kid when this started.
    I think it's been ok.

Yup, that's the appeal - it's just fun.

red dwarf as always been brilliantly juvenile, some of the best jokes in the best episodes have involved dirty underwear, farts, curry and such

TBF, the current EG seem to watch stuff like how I met your mum and that thing with the geeks - who are actually scientists so are probably used to those sex jokes. It's just a different thing.

Saying that, the finger wetting joke was genius.

I'm happy it's back, I've been enjoying this series. Yes, it's dated, but. it's still a very cosy nostalgia blanket.

It's not bad but it really does suffer from having repeats shown after it. The Legion one was on the other night and there were at least half a dozen genuine lols in there.

Aside from the poor scripts, which are often marginally better than most of series 7 & 8 but sometimes utterly awful, my biggest problem is the overacting.

They shout their lines, over-exaggerate every movement and expression and visibly relish every punch line. It's Red Dwarf panto, and it's really embarrassing to watch.
