Want to buy some decent horror flicks (must have been released in 2013 or 2014) - the wife loves 'em - the more blood and guts, the better.

    Any recommendations please?

Why do they have to be recent?

I think The Bay was released last year. A good found footage film (a rare thing), about contaminated water in America.

Aftershock, The Aggression Scale, The ABCs of Death, Antisocial, Bad Milo, Butcher Boys, Chilling Visions: 3 Senses of Fear, The Collection, Come Out and Play, Curse of Chucky, Devil's Pass, Evidence, A Field in England, Jug Face, Maniac, Scenic Route, Scorned, The Seasoning House, Sightseers, Skinwalker Ranch, V/H/S 2, Would You Rather.

That should get you started, quality is variable (they're generally 'good' in comparison to other horrors). These were the best, I think: Aftershock, Aggression Scale, ABCs of Death, Curse of Chucky (surprising turnaround for that series), Jug Face (some dodgy FX but good weird movie), Maniac (gory), Scorned (gruesome torture porn with better than average acting and plot), The Seasoning House (fucked up), Sightseers (dark, twisted, funny) and V/H/S 2.

Would You Rather is gory but stupid, though has the advantage of starring Jeffrey 'Re-Animator and every Star Trek series ever' Combs.

    V/H/S 1 & 2 are worth a watch. 1 is 2012 though.

Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan is very gory but incredibly stupid and badly written and acted. It is, though, one of the few horrors I've ever seen that involves a giant. There's an untapped gold mine of potential in that theme.

Would You Rather is bloody crap, imo, but it's on Netflix - it can be turned off without any guilt.

Last year I saw a trailer for a British horror film set in a Country town with a outsiders in trouble with the locals theme.

Does anybody know the title, and if it came out yet? Sorry, I know it's not much to go on.

Watched it on a flight. Great use of practical effects. The restrained use of special effects made them far more effective when they were used. That bit with the washing line was super creepy.

Because she's pretty up to date with stuff up to 2012.

Some great suggestion so far folks, the more the better. :)

    Thanks!

You're Next. Sightseers (sort of, more of a black comedy), VHS 2.

@BinaryBob101 great little film, i cant help but think folk would complain it wasn't horror enough, but its an indie gem.

there's always cheese like Daybreakers that's quite recent. It's not very good though.

how about Cabin in the Woods?

Yeah, maybe. Stakeland has a similar kind of vibe, enjoyed that a fair bit too. Kinda, The Road with vampires.

Antiviral is a weird one too. I didn't enjoy it at all, but the atmosphere was unique and it is pretty disturbing, again, maybe not Horror enough for some people.

    I liked Stakeland, yeah.

    Other low brow type movies,
    Lords of Salem
    Nurse 3D
    Contracted
All the Boys love Mandy lane (had this on DVD for about 4 years but only released properly last year)

Just forget that "V.H.S: Viral" even exists, such a poor ending to what was looking like a great trilogy.

"ABC's of Death 2" should be treated the same apart from a couple of sketches!

Hard to recommend any good horror as the low budget found footage style are currently taking over. but unfortunately with a lot of them, when you've seen one Bigfoot movie, you've seen them all!!

It's neither of those, I can remember seeing a trailer myself but I don't know if it's for an older movie?

One I've seen had a few city boys being hunted by a mental Welsh farmer. like a (very) poor man's Wolf Creek. Ooh, Wolf Creek 2 wasn't too bad if you enjoyed the first one!

EDIT: Sorry, I'm on my phone and can't link omen, but search "Devils Bridge"
