The Grimmfest festival held in Manchester in a few weeks now has it's full line up. I'm really looking forward to seeing some of these. Dave Made a Maze in particular looks suitably bonkers. http://grimmfest.com/grimmupnorth/2017/09/grimmfest-2017-full-line-up/ |

Registered 12 years agoWith regards to IT, I note in a recent interview that the director, Andres Muschietti, has confirmed that he opted to eschew the source material and edit out the climactic pre-teen seven-way gang bang, for artistic reasons.
No doubt to the consternation of purists. -

Registered 8 years agoJust seen the trailer for the new Insidious.
Hmmmmmmmmm
So I really liked Insidious 1, loved Insidious 2 & 3... But the trailer for 4 (it should be chapter 4, but now, they've fucked the naming of it now and subtitled it instead. Dicks) looked pretty wank (some twat with keys on his fingers?). I wish they had left it alone. -

Registered 6 years agoI only really enjoyed the first 1 I think. A man with keys for fingers sounds pretty horrific though. OH MY GOD HE'S UNLOCKED THE DOOR. OH MY GOD HE'S LOCKED US IN. OH MY GOD HE'S KEYED THE CAR. And such. -

Darren Aronofsky's new movie mother! is getting some rave reviews. Not strictly a horror it seems but the trailer does look very tense. Not much known about it otherwise. -

Mother! Looks great. Are there any reviews for IT yet? I was going to go at weekend as I really like the look of it, but it's dependant on a babysitter and also on it not being an absolute travesty of a film. -

Registered 17 years agoIf IT and Mother! are as good as people are making out, combined with Get Out and Raw, it could out to be a very strong year for horror films. -
Good to see IT is reviewing well then. You never know with these films nowadays, particular horror films. Pretty decent September then if both IT and Mother are good. Kingsman 2 as well but that's OT as it's not a horror lol. -
@Rubbatiti
Cheers for the link

Registered 17 years ago@beastmaster Its a good film but I'm not sure why Raw keeps being referred to as a horror film. Its really not. Its a coming of age drama that just happens to have a bit of gore in it. Still a bloody good film though. -

Registered 8 years agoIT seems to be getting some pretty good reviews. Not five star jobs, but decent ones. Still debating about that midnight showing tomorrow... -

Still excited!

4/5 in Empire. Looks like its going down in the 'good' King column. -

Registered 8 years agoYeah Bloody Disgusting gave it a lot of praise as well. Numerous referencies in a lot of the reviews to Skarsgard being immense as well. Plus we get a good bit of time with each of the losers. An over reliance on horror movie tropes threatens to let it down a bit but seeminlg the scares are really well done. Budget was obviously big as well as apparently the locations are fantastic.
100% on Rotten Tomatoes so far after 24 reviews.

It's under the horror section everywhere you look. That may have something to do with it.gif)
Mind you, I did see Down Terrace in the comedy section on Netflix once.
A 'bit' or gore? There's a fair bit and what there is, is pretty realistic.

Even Bradshaw managed 3 stars and some begrudging praise on the Graun. Bodes well!
