Yep a second for the Babadook, very creepy film.

As Above So Below is an alright jumpfest, though no where near as claustrophobic as The Descent.

Also on the subject of horror, I saw a trailer for a fun Kiwi horror comedy, What we do in the Shadows.

Eden Lake. I told my Mrs it was about 'killing chavs'.

    She thought that sounded ok.

Only afterwards, she turned to me and said, 'Oh,  you meant Killing Chavs'

    That film will haunt you.

The Loved Ones is utterly brilliant, super black humour and brilliantly acted.

I watched the Babadook last night. Very good film and recommended but sadly not scary :(

Does anybody know the title, and if it came out yet? Sorry, I know it's not much to go on.
    Eden Lake?

    Straw Dogs?
It's neither of those, I can remember seeing a trailer myself but I don't know if it's for an older movie?

One I've seen had a few city boys being hunted by a mental Welsh farmer. like a (very) poor man's Wolf Creek. Ooh, Wolf Creek 2 wasn't too bad if you enjoyed the first one!

EDIT: Sorry, I'm on my phone and can't link omen, but search "Devils Bridge"
    Thanks for the suggestions. :)

I actually came across the trailer again last night by random chance.

    Inbred

I really should have mentioned the surreal, League of Gentlemen vibe, it might have helped narrow it down. I'll to see if I can track it down now that I know what it's actually called.

I'd highly recommend going to see It Follows. Probably the best horror I've seen in ages. It's pretty much about a STD only replace the Disease with Doom as once you catch this you're fucked. And not in the good Las Vegas way.

The film has a weird quality to it where it doesn't appear set in any time. Characters go to old fashioned movie theatre, watch old B-movies on TV sets with rabbit ears yet one has a kindle type thing. And the big bad is a pretty freaky thing, portrayed by a range of different actors.

The soundtrack by Disasterpiece ( guy who done the FEZ OST ) gives it a great tension and it sounds like something John Carpenter would compose for a Mega Drive game. What I mainly liked was that it didn't rely on JUMP scares and focused more on eerie stuff and that lingering sense of dread like when you buy the wrong washing powder and as you watch your clothes turning and turning in your washing machine it'll sink in

Babadook didn't really do it for me either. It Follows did, although it's a push to describe it as scary. It's a lovely film, though.

Europa Report's more of a sci-fi story but there's sort-of a monster in it and I found it an unexpected pleasure.

Yeah I have mixed feelings on the Babadook. Really liked the performances and the first half is great but it loses it near the end. I really enjoyed Occulus as well, I personally would rate it higher than Babadook, but they make for a good pairing, two leads, haunted object, familial tension and boogery-men/women.

Absolutely agree with you here. One of the finest horror films I've ever seen. So creepy and so well done.

Tempted to go see it again. That soundtrack!

We watched The Borderlands (A.K.A Final Prayer) the other night. I really liked it, the O/H faded out towards the end.

Almost-Lovecraftian found footage movie where a Scotsman, an Englishman and an Irishman Scooby-Doo a small parish church. Features a chav getting punched -8/10

Also, 'Resolution' (on Canadian Netflix). A less in-you-face indie version of what Cabin in the Woods was going for. As usual, the Netflix synopsis doesn't exactly sell it (fella tries to help friend go cold turkey from the meth in an isolated cabin) but it's worth a go.

Neither of them feature much blood and gore to be fair. If you want that, you want BRAINDEAD!

It Follows is good, but it loads all its scares in the first hour (although there are some great scares in that first hour!). Remains very creepy throughout though.
