Registered 8 years ago@CompetitiveDad not sure, but I think it's linked to your sky account. I never had bt sport when I was with sky, but when I looked into having it after I ditched sky it was £30/m for non bt customers (which I am as I hate BT more than I hate sky!).
But if you're a bt customer I guess it's part of your deal, but you might want to check it before you ditch sky.
I fully recommend ditching sky as their monthly charges are horrendous, and you can get everything and more if you have a decent broadband connection and don't mind using your ps4 as a media streaming service (as it has now tv, Netflix and Amazon video all in the app store). -

I've got one of these. It is a shame that the NowTV app is only for movies. If it was for Entertainment too I would have it all.

Is netflix still available on this box?
Sup fellow Murdoch begrudgers! I finally went PVR and picked up the excellent Humax DTR-T2000, which as well as sounding like a cyborg killing machine, also has twin tuners, the EXCELLENT YouView baked in and all your apps to detach from Murdoch's nipple: Now TV, Netflix, etc

Registered 11 years agoI got rid of Virgin Tivo (still have them for BB and phone) and bought a humax youview box and 2 NowTV box's (1 each for the kids). So have got 6 months worth of entertainment. It pays for itself entertaining my daughter with Nick and all the kids catch up to be honest.

Registered 17 years agoWith NOVTV the boxes are often on sale for £20 or so, you can pick up 6 months of TV for £3 a month. Even cheaper if you can find some numpty to buy the box without the voucher.
You could probably set up some kind of email alert on Hot UK deals.
Edit:
Here you go, 4 months movies for £18.99.

@Dirtbox for those of us who don't want to break the law, now tv is the cheapest method to get some of the most wanted tv shows -

Do the apps on the Sky Box (iplayer, ITV, just the freeview ones) still work without a sky sub or will I have to access those through the Now TV box?
I cancelled today. Tried to start offering me deals but was frankly honest and said there was nothing he could offer me to stay and I'd rather he took the next call to get his commission than waste time on me. He was polite, thanked me for my honesty and I was cancelled within 90 seconds. Painless. -

Registered 18 years agoYep, they all work fine. It's just a reskinned Roku box with a Nowtv app and the others.

Great stuff. Got 12 months of Sky Entertainment for about £3.10 per month, and 4 months of movies (which I'll use over Christmas) for £4.50 a month. -
Ah no I meant on the sky+ box itself, not the Now box.
Basically Mrs Monkey wants to still use them on there (as we're keeping it for freeview) and not have to go through the now box. -

@Legate ah. Balls.
Agree Now TV app is great, but I've sold it to her on the premise SHE can still use the sky + box and not have to faff with the now tv box. Because apparently another remote is a third world problem to get round. -

Registered 16 years agoSounds like you might be better off just buying a Freesat box outright instead of keeping the Sky+ one. You could always use a Chromecast for BT Sport if needs be. -

I really need a Harmony remote, I guess.

Well, congratulate me boys and girls (if you wish!) - I've now been without Sky for over a week.
I swapped by phone and broadband over to BT, which didn't involve me talking to Sky at all as BT sorted all of that lot out, and the instant the phone line was up and running under my new insect overlords, I phoned Sky and told them I was cancelling the television service.
The nice Scottish lady put up a bit of a fight at first, but when I explained that Mrs. M. died last year and that she was the one who mostly used the service, the rest of the conversation only took a couple of minutes to wade through.
So, I now have a satellite dish but the Sky HD box is packed away, I have not got a terrestrial aerial (not for TV anyway - I'm a radio amateur so I've got all sorts of other aerials!), and have not really watched TV in over a week.
I caught up with a few things on BBC iPlayer I wanted to watch, which my TV gets directly over the internet, and the main PC uses the TV too, so if I really want to watch something, there'll always be a way via that.
Yaar.
Having spoken on this thread (or one of the other EG Sky threads, not sure) about wanting to keep my access to documentary channels such as Discovery and Nat Geo, it slowly started to dawn on me that their content is getting shitter by the day, with all these "mockumentaries" and...drama...why, FFS????
Most of the good quality content is actually sourced from the BBC anyway, so I'll be sticking to iPlayer, YouTube and the internet generally for a bit and see how I get on.
Since being on my own, my television intake had actually started to creep up a bit, which was not something I was keen on - watching reality stuff like Fast 'n' Loud, Wheeler Dealers and so on, so hopefully this change will give me a bit of time back.

Registered 10 years agoGetting sick and tired of Sky now... over the last month or so we've had an issue with input 2 on our box just dropping out completely, seemingly at random. This means TV guide doesn't update, recordings break snd, worst of all, the dreaded "your Sky bnox isn't receiving a signal". Only way to fix it is the ol' off and on again and hope for the best. Engineer has been twice, first time he swapped the box, last time he swapped the LNB, neither has sorted it. The problem is both times he's left with it working, with it being an intermittent fault, so I get the "hopefully that's done it, if it breaks again just call". I guess it's a new cable next...
It's made me realise how archaic the whole Sky satellite system and infrastructure is now. I think that will be me done with it when our contract ends in October. -
Not had sky for years now. Just use a mag 254 box and have an IPTV sub. Shit load of channels for all my needs and it's only £12 a month

Registered 15 years agoCongrats Mark, you can always plug a Freesat box into the Sky feeds, if that offers other options.
Anything but the streaming via the net does seem quite old fashioned these days. I'm so fucking cyber. -

Fuckers don't help themselves, always finding a way to be arseholes. They are removing Nick and Nick Jr and creating a kid's pass, due to launch in June. But it's OK, you get Nat Geo in return!
From Nowtv entertainment pass.
